Eventually I settled on this one by Luna. I am very pleased with it. The sound is bright, consistant, the fret board easy to play. The finish is absolutely fantastic. I was worried there might be some blemishes or uneveness to the instrument's finish and construction (blue can make any unpleasant nick or scratch stand out), but I looked it over carefully from top to bottom, it's perfect. Amazing craftsmanship.
The keys are high quality, as is every other component part. The built in tuner is a big plus. The electronics work with no problems, and the sound is consistant with good tone, even when plugged into an amp (I used a small Fender).
The (stock) strings are heavy, but I plan to change those over my favorite light strings. No big deal there.
Overall this is a great instrument, well worth the price. For those interested, Luna guitars is in Tampa, Florida, and is a women owned and operated company. I find the the finish as insprirational, and if your're going to have an instrument, why not get one that looks great?
The sound is amazing, not to mention is beautiful, and when plugged into an amp it still maintains that great ukulele sound! I love this ukelele, it was a great purchase, and I'm so excited to bring this beauty with me everywhere!
The electronic has worked flawless for us, and sounds really good on a amplifier.
The only thing drawing the 5th star from it is the shape the guitar was delivered in, it needed a good dash of linseed oil to make the rosewood fret board look and feel good.
The truss rod was turned all the way to the negative side so it have to be adjusted to take on the pull of the strings, the neck turned up to be perfectly straight and stabile.
Then setting the string height. The string height was way too high, so even after pulling out the shims in the bridge I have to remove about 1/16" from the plastic to receive the wanted string height.
The guitar have quite heavy D'Addario EXP on it, this is not my favorite so I changed them out for a light 10-50 Rotosound Nexus
Ta Da !! Now it looks, sounds and plays wonderfully, with its light action and clean sound, the intonation is close to perfect so you can use the neck from A to Z.
