Mrs. P published her four favorite fairy tales in one volume entitled "Mrs. P's Four Favorite Fairy Tales & Funny Stories". The book offers updated storylines to the classic tales of The Frog Prince, Jack and the Beanstalk, Sleeping Beauty and The Emperor's New Clothes.
Mrs. P introduces each fairytale with one of her own childhood memories filled with humor, magic and fun. My favorite is her story of the magic socks before the tale Jack and the Beanstalk.
Wonderful color illustrations add to the appeal of the storybook. And the book size (8.5-inch square) with large print make it easy for the child to handle and read. Perfect for car trips or sitting in a comfortable chair.
The delight of this book is the interactive connection. Children can read along with Mrs. P from her free online Magic Library at Mrs.[...]. However, these stories, and more, are available as audio books in the iTunes store for a little more than free and downloadable to a plethora of listening devices.
Interactive Storybooks can engage the child in more ways than just reading. For the younger child, the audio books invite Mrs. P to read them stories, that they child will enjoy; for older children, they can read along with Mrs. P, improving reading skills; and Mrs. P's "Be A Famous Writer Contest" allows the child to exercise their creative muscles by submitting their own imaginative stories.
Another positive aspect is a percentage of the proceeds from "Mrs. P's Four Favorite Fairy Tales & Funny Stories" is donated to literary organizations. This storybook is packed with fun and enjoyment, and one I highly recommend.
My daughter is a little young to appreciate the coolness factor of the read along feature but definitely enjoys watching Mrs. P online. I think ideally the book and the read-along-feature work best for kindergarten and elementary school age children. Teachers should take note as well. I can see this being a great tool in the classroom in teaching kids how to read, and in helping them build stronger literacy skills.
