This is a collection of delicious sounding recipes that rely on the best of old-fashioned, "rib-sticking" meals but updated for a modern kitchen. Most of the recipes are vegetarian but include suggestions for adding meat or poultry if you like. I was especially interested in the bread recipes which all have instructions for both bread machines or traditional bread making. Amelia's Breakfast Bread sounds delicious and I'll be trying that for sure. There are some great recipes for soups using beans and lentils, three different marinara sauces, a traditional Yorkshire Pudding and fruitcake, and a recipe for Savory Caraway Scones that sounds wonderful. The recipe that attracted me the most is called Dumpling Pudding for Fruits since I'm a big fan of dumplings.

The introduction is nicely written and the book is well constructed with interactive links. All in all a great collection of tempting-sounding and very useful recipes.

"Favorites from Amelia's Kitchen" is a new personal favorite. This collection of original recipes has an interactive table of contents, which I appreciate. The recipes are varied, mostly vegetarian, and many low sugar. I use a bread machine frequently and am especially looking forward to trying out some of Amelia's bread recipes. 5 stars for this one!

Bread Machine owners will be delighted with Favorites from Amelia's Kitchen. All of Amelia's yeast bread recipes have been written for the bread machine. Also included are a variety of simple vegetarian dishes non-vegetarians will find suitable as lunch or side dishes and a selection of biscuits, scones and simple desserts. Pay particular attention to Amelia's adaptation of traditional Irish Colcannon to a non-potato version suitable for her diabetic father, the truly authentic Johnny Cake (Yankee cornbread from Rhode Island) and a very nice old-fashioned Dumpling Pudding. French Canadians make this with real maple syrup instead of the fruit about this time of year.

The book is nicely formatted and features an interactive Table of Contents, correctly interfaced so that it is accessible from the Kindle Navigation menu. Have an extra star from Grandma for getting that right!

Be sure to try the sponge method Amelia describes for the bread machine! That is the only way I make bread now. I think I have now made all of the bread recipes, and all worked perfectly! Next I am going to start going through the other recipes -- since there is a lot more than just bread recipes. :-)Thank you, Amelia for the detailed directions -- you seemed to anticipate what my next question(s) would be!
