RUN FROM FEAR:

"4 stars...Alden's each and every well-placed word demonstrates to readers what a superior storyteller of suspense she is. Her latest has a solid plot, a strong battle-tested heroine and tension to the extreme. This is one story that will have readers turning the pages well in the night."―--- RT Book Reviews Starred Review

RAVE REVIEW FOR JAMI ALDEN AND HIDE FROM EVIL:

"4 1/2 stars...Anyone who says that romantic suspense is no longer a hot commodity hasn't read Jami Alden. She's quickly making a name for herself as one of the top writers in the genre. Her latest novel continues her streak of excellent, gripping stories and brings captivating recurring characters along for the ride."
--RT Book Reviews

"An emotional, adrenalin rush...Sexual chemistry engulfs these two and spills from the pages with the force of a tsunami...Alden's portrayal of Sean is brilliant, and pairing him with the hard-nosed, determined prosecutor was risky but proved to be perfect. I've been looking forward to reading this novel for months, and Jami Alden didn't disappoint."

I loved Beg for Mercy and Hide from Evil. This book is a part of a series. I was really excited this book came out. As soon as I saw it I grabbed it. This is Talia story. She is getting her life back together after she was tortured. She was in awful 'relationship' which is mentioned in Beg for Mercy. She was helped by Jack. I liked Talia the most part but she got stupid which I found annoying. Jack our hero is there to protect/help Talia (she doesn't know he was)had potential but he fell flat for me. This book talks about Gemini Security/Gemini Men. I felt like Alden was just trying to get me to buy those books. Not going to happen. This book seemed rush and didn't have the depth I felt in Beg for Mercy and Hide from Evil. Not a terrible book but I certainly won't be grabbing a book by Alden just b/c she wrote it. By the way, if you want to read this book I recommend you read Beg for Mercy 1st. It explains the back story which you really don't get in this book. If I didn't read the 1st 2 books in the series I think I would have given it 2 stars.

4 1/2 stars. "Run From Fear" by Jami Alden is a thrilling and chilling read about Talia Vega as she continues to try to rebuild her life after the nightmarish experiences that she has had that left her scarred in body and mind. Jack Brooks has watched her from afar, fearing to reveal to her the strength of his attraction to her even as he strives to keep her protected. Talia's actions have revolved around protecting her sister Rosie and trying to overcome the nightmares from her past but she has no idea that Jack has been in the background for the past two years, waiting for her to heal. Eerie occurrences that rekindle the horrors from her past cause Talia to discover that her feelings of security may have been built on a fragile web of deception and someone is out to terrorize her yet again. She has to decide whether to trust and open up her heart to Jack who has his own wounded past to deal with even as she fights against the evil that threatens all she has worked so hard to overcome.

A suspenseful and gripping tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat even as you root for Jack to find a way to reach Talia's heart. The horrors experienced by Talia have scarred her but not yet destroyed her but one wonders how much any one person can overcome. Some of the secondary characters are somewhat two-dimensional and there seem to be some inconsistencies in the villain's behavior at the end which is a bit rushed and more condensed than I would have liked but overall this was a very entertaining read. The touching and passion-filled love scenes are nicely contrasted with frightening and creepy descriptions that seesaw the reader's emotions as the tension gets wound tighter and tighter. A mesmerizing read that will garner more fans for a talented author.

Sorry Mrs. Alden!! I hate to give a bad review of an author whom I have previously enjoyed. ADORED her Gemini Men series, liked the first two in this series, but unfortunately wish I could get my money back on this book.

The first half of this book just drags. You know who the killer is. You know he's not going to kill her (hence happily ever-after concept of most romantic novels). So where is the suspense in a book marketed as Romantic-Suspense???

Would be killers depraved depiction is too nauseating. Rape, torture scenes.

Too much repetiveness in the main characters. Yes, we get how the past has shaped them, we get why they behave the way they do, but it gets down right annoying how much the author empathizes such introspectives into their pysches.

Second half got a little better. But still predictable. Neither the love scenes or the epilogue was enough to redeem this book for me.

Talia Vega and Jack Brooks have a tangled past, but Jack wants a future with Talia. When Talia discovered her controlling boyfriend, David Maxwell, was involved with a serial killer, it destroyed her faith in people and her own judgment. Just when she thinks she can start over and care for her sister Rosie, her past comes back to haunt her, threatening their lives again. But this time, she has Jack watching over her.

I've been anxious to read more about Talia and Jack since they were introduced in Hide From Evil. Their story is exciting, action-packed, and full of romance and angst. Because of her past, Talia second-guesses everything and everyone in her life, and because Jack is a part of that past, no matter how strong her feelings are for him, she continues to deny them. Jack's feelings for Talia are intense. His devotion and desire for her is endearing and unwavering. The killer's machinations are eerily captivating and getting a small glimpse of the men from Alden's fantastic series Gemini Men is a real treat as well. Run From Fear is the third novel in an exciting series that I hope will continue.

All 3 books in the series were good. Although I looked forward to Talia and Jack's story the most, it was probably the weaker of the 3 only because this one was really heavy on the romance and light on the suspense. Don't get me wrong---I love romance, but Talia's hang-ups and issues got old after awhile. I mean please------if I love a guy and he's filthy rich and wants to give me money, bring it on! :-p I just felt that her attitude towards starting a relationship with Jack and his behavior towards her when she dumped him were not true to their characters. And there were once again 2 different plots going on in regard to the suspense when one would have been plenty. Overall, though, I'd highly recommend the series. She does have a new book out, "Guilty As Sin", which is not listed as being part of this series, but the main character is one who had a big part in "Hide from Evil" so to me, it is part of this series.
