Editorial Reviews

Review

"Vanilla readers might have a hard time swallowing, dark readers may call this light in some ways. I call it a perfect balance and I loved every bit." - Di of Twisted Sisters Book Reviews

"I fell in love with this book! I thought when I read the description that this would be the typical boy bullies girl because he really loves her deep down. Wrong. Boy really does hate girl. " - Lisa of Three Chicks and Their Books

"[You] could feel the fear in Lake as she interacted with Kieran. [You] could also tell she wanted to be brave and fight that fear. I loved the darkness in Kieran [and] how we are drawn into the seduction of that darkness." - Ashleigh Giannoccaro, author of Colour My Ugly.

This story reminded me of Bully as it has some similar elements, which I liked. Like with the hero in Jared in Bully, I liked that Keiran was jealous, possessive and protective of Lake, the heroine. Both men scared off any potential dates because they wanted the heroines for themselves and could not stand the idea of anyone else being with them. However, unlike Jared, I felt that Keiran went too far in his need to punish her, which greatly disturbed me. His anger was out of control and Lake, the heroine, was his whipping dog. Unlike Jared, Keiran physically punished Lake. He spanked her very hard and tried to physically force her to give him blowjs. He blackmailed her into sleeping with him, which felt like non-con to me. He kept talking about wanting to kill her as well as kill her family if she did not do everything that he wanted and she believed that he would do it. I thought what supposedly happened to him as a child was too off the wall, too unrealistic and unbelievable.

The heroine's behavior irritated me as well. I wanted her to grow a pair and grow a brain. She needed to tell someone what was going on during the bullying years and especial when coerced sex is added to the equation. She reminded me of the heroines in old skool historical romances. The heroine is getting raped but discovers that she likes it and changes her tune. Lake vacillated between wanting to have sex with Keiran and being afraid that he would hurt or kill her and her family members. I disliked the cliffhanger ending.

This book we meet Lake and Kiernan.
This book just no matter how much I tried I couldn't feel anything for these characters. They both just feel flat and forced.
It was like watching a grade B movie.
Yes I get the point, he is bullying you.
Yes I get the point
I get it she's hated
I get it she didn't do it
I get it he wants her
I get it he's moody, controlling, and wears a mask.
I get Willow is her only friend, has curves and dresses like a freak.
There were parts and characters I still wonder, what did it actually serve to be in it. The stereotypical gay man running a gym? The grandmother with dementia, that was more insightful and has a better memory then most people I know.
I just feel like I am reading the same thing over and over phrased different.
This book could of easily been cut 75 pages. Then BOOM at 90% we actually get something new and worth reading, it seemed like it was wrote by a totally different author. Then you get the infamous cliffhanger!!
This one I say read at your own risk. ****updated****
This ending did keep me wondering what would happen next, since the writing in this book was almost flawless, I did purchase and read book two.

I am going to segregate my review into two parts one that is meant for the author (the softer version) and then for everybody else (my real review)

Author save review

The basic plot has various holes in it and does not come out as strong as it is required to though. There are a lot that does not add up. Language needs attention as it gets choppy and requires to be smoothed a little more. The characters are all sharp but the one character that required attention, lacks it. The central character, Lake. i found her to be suffering from split personality disorder. The way she behaves at times is entirely opposite to the way she has been shaped. So there is no consistency in her character. Though in spite of everything, the way the second half emerged was interesting and the ending was pretty shocking

Now my goodness ends here so if the author is reading this review, then please stop at here and step away because the following is going to be ugly

My real review aka anger

First of all Bully by Penelope Douglas is one of my favorite books so naturally someone says that there is a book on the lines of Bully, i will naturally be on it instantly and that is how i ended up with Fear Me (Fear me ...my @#$ )

Fear me is a cheap copy of Bully (by penelope douglas). More like BDSM version of Bully or a thousand ways in which Bully could have gone wrong. There were a whole lot of people who found Bully really repulsive and offensive. They should then read this. i am wondering how all those pedantic and moral polices will uphold this book.

I can't believe at the audacity of this book.

Prepare for my wrath

Do you think forced sex is a joke? So you think rape is a joke?

I tried to give this book the benefit of the doubt based on the summary but I found nothing capturing between the male lead Keiran. Are we suppose to root for a couple where the person tells her how much he wants to KILL her, how much he hates her? Are we suppose to feel sympathy because he's jealous that someone looks at her that he takes it out on her by choking her? He's abusing her mentally and physically yet she still loves him. There are times he treats her good but then snaps, barks and chokes her. He isolates her and controls all because she breaks out emotions he never experienced before. He punishes her for somethings she never did only because she reminds her of someone he wants her to forget. It was a tough read to finish but I did thinking he was going to have some redeemable quality he has done.
