Editorial Reviews

From the Author

“We fear God when we do justice to and demand justice for the men within our own borders. We are false to the teachings of righteousness if we do not do such justice and demand such justice.” “Unless we are thorough going Americans and unless our patriotism is part of the very fiber of our being, we can neither serve God nor take our own part.” “Patriotism should be an integral part of our every feeling at all times, for it is merely another name for those qualities of soul which make a man in peace or in war, by day or by night, think of this duty to his fellows, and of his duty to the nation through which their and his loftiest aspirations must find their fitting expression.”

Theodore Roosevelt

1916 --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Back Cover

Fear God and Take Your Own Part is a collection of articles Theodore Roosevelt wrote, largely for Metropolitan Magazine, some six years after he left the presidency. The title is another way of saying that a nation must have the power and will for self-sacrifice as well as the power and will for self-protection. In the book, Roosevelt, who also wrote extensively on the outdoors, vigorously sets forth the "principles of true Americanism" that still reverberate throughout the nation today.

This book could have been written for today . TR (Theodore Roosevelt) speaks against hyphenated Americanism . As it always place another nationality over being American . He is all for being a proud American of such and such decent , of being a naturalised American of foreign birth , but to be American first ahead of all other sub or racial groups. He lays out a strong argument why this is important . TR proposes one way to promote America first , is by instilling strong moral values in ourselves and our youth , establishing and maintaining a strong military . He strongly lays out his reasoning for both. He speaks out against pacifism at the cost of not just the freedom on the USA but why we must as a nation defend ( control ) our borders and be our brothers keeper as well . That we must work to maintain the high ground of Righteousness in this world and to help those who are being wronged by oppressive forces . This is a book that would be profitable for any American or Hyphenated-Americans to read . It will strengthen many and open the eyes of some . TR is a passionate and fiery writer he must have been a real Barn burner of a speaker . Wear gloves when reading this book as the subject is now and HOT .

I had never heard of this book until I read "Marked for Death" by Geert Wilder. He's not even from this country! This book is in Theodore Roosevelt's words and is easy to read. I highly recommend this book, it argues for our country's self defense, and protection.

Teddy Roosevelt was a great man with great ideas and had a passion for the country that ran extremely deep. We need leaders today who put America first as well as being an American no matter what your origin is.
