I guess the easiest and best way to explain it is by saying that I LOVED this book. This story had everything...passion, angst, love, laughter, heartbreak, and sadness. I loved how this story flowed. It gave us a little overlap from Finding Solace but not enough to be repetitive. This book is the Second book in The Flawlessly Broken series. Finding Solace was book 1. This book can be read as a Standalone, but I would truly suggest that you read them in order. You meet a lot of the characters in book 1 and they do carry over into this book.
This story was so much more than just a love story. It was a story about a woman who has to overcome some serious issues and also a great story about true friendships and what people will do for their friends. I truly felt like I was a part of this group of friends. I don't want to say too much about the actual storyline because I really think this is a book you need to go into blind to get the full affect of the story. This book was truly full of ups and downs, highs and lows, laughter and sadness. I will tell you this make sure that you have some tissues handy….you will need them. What I really enjoyed about this book was that the author kept me guessing. I thought I had a lot of things figured out and that the story was easy to predict, but I couldn't be more wrong. Yes there were a couple of things that I was correct in guessing but the author still managed to knock me off my feet. I couldn't read this story fast enough!!!!
The main characters in this book were Tony and Kate, but the story was also about so many more people. The cast of characters in this book and the ones that carry over from Finding Solace are the best cast of characters I have read about. They are so relatable that you actually feel a part of the group. When they were happy so was I, but when things weren't going so well, I could feel their pain as well. To me that is what makes a book a 5 Star read….when an author can suck you into a story and make you feel everything that the characters are feeling. Now don't get me wrong….there were plenty of times I wanted to smack both Tony and Kate upside the head for their stupidity, but overall I LOVED them!!!!! Kate was such a strong character. She had a lot of sass and spunk. The friendship between her and Kara was amazing!!! As for Tony….I fell hard for him in Finding Solace, but I fell even harder for him in this book. He is definitely going to the top of my BBF list :)
I could go on and on about this book and characters, but I really think you just need to read this book!!!!
So YES I would recommend this book. Like I said if you are looking for a book that has it all, this would be it. You get a love story that is truly so much more. This is truly a book about overcoming fears and learning to trust yourself to do the right thing.
Kate has it all, the great job, nice house, amazing friends, but one major thing is missing... Love.
Always picking the wrong guys has hindered Kate in taking steps in finding a forever love.
Ryan, the one she runs to when life is at its worst. He's always there to pick everything up, but he's her best friend. If ever Crossing that invisible line there will be no turing back.
"I think I need you as much as you need me right now, just maybe for different reasons."- Ryan
When everything has literally crumbled around her, that's when Mr. Mysterious shows up. A man that is like a Greek God, and who will show Kate what love could be like.
"He is different. That man renders me speechless. He defines beauty in its finest form."- Kate
Falling in love is the easy part, staying that way is the task.
"You have the power to be my undoing and yet I am prepared to leap forward and take that chance." Mr. Mysterious
Will worrying about everyone else around them hurt their chances of making it, or can they forget about what others might think and live their life without fearing they will regret the relationship?
Fearing Regret is Barbara Speaks second Nobel, and she hit it out of the park with this one. A truly great story of love, heart ache, regret, overcoming, surrendering, loss and learning. It has everything a book needs to be a success. Kate is a character that has it all, but that one thing she truly wants... Love, and we can't buy that. Her character made me laugh, scream and cry. She has her issues, she's not perfect, and she knows that. There was a certain point that I wanted to slap the hell out of her and tell her to wake the hell up. Mr. Mysterious, I freaking LOVED him!!!! I'm not telling you his name (a lot of other reviews have, but it will not. I want y'all to be surprised like i was) You have to find out just like I did, then you will say "HOLY CRAP!" Because I know I did. I will say that you have met him in the previous book, Finding Solace. His character is amazing. He's everything you'd want in a book boyfriend. He brings so much fun and laughter into this book. Again, like the last book, the friends of Kate's are awesome and big in her book, like in Finding Solace. I love all the different friends, they each bring something different with their personality. I'm a fan of HEA's and Barb gave us that. We get all the trials and tribulations of they're relationship. You will be heart broken at a point, maybe lose a few tears, then BAM, hit in the dang face!! The sex scenes are HOT, I can't forget about that, Ladies. I GIVE THIS BOOK 5 stars!!!
