About the Author
After years of fruitless dieting, Cassy found herself 24 years old, with extreme joint pain, fatigue, mental fog, and at her largest, most uncomfortable size. In an effort to learn more about why her health was declining, she took to nutrition research. After just one year of implementing her newfound wellness practices, she lost 10 dress sizes, lived pain-free, and experienced more energy than ever before. Eager to share her healthy living secrets with the world, she started her recipe blog, fedandfit.com, in 2011.
Since then, she has become a Nutrition Consultant and leads people through her Fed+Fit Project each month so that they, too, can achieve their health and wellness goals without ever dieting again. She also regularly shares valuable free information on her weekly Podcast, blog, YouTube series, and social media outlets.
Juli Bauer was once called the Chelsea Handler of Paleo. She's not sure if it was intended as a compliment, but that is how she is taking it. Juli is out to make you laugh on her website and in her newest cookbook. And if you don't laugh, she'll teach you how. Juli is the New York Times bestselling author of The Paleo Kitchen and the creator of one of the most-visited Paleo websites, PaleOMG. She started her website to share her homemade Paleo meals, but now it's where she shares her life stories and experiences. From fitness to fashion to body image issues, you'll find it all on paleomg.com. When Juli isn't in the kitchen, she's coaching or working out in her CrossFit gym, feeding her passion for fitness. Or you'll find her on the couch, cuddling with her French bulldog, Jackson. They are best friends. They reside together in Denver, Colorado, continuously loving the sunshine.

Her book includes:
- A 28-day plan that is conveniently illustrated for every single day (see photo)
- A routine where lunches come from the previous night's dinner (so much more realistic than cooking 2 meals every night so that lunch is ready to be transported the next morning)
- The ability to switch out any meal for a simplified, quicker option: basic protein, basic veggie, basic starchy vegetable or fruit)
- Full caloric information for everything along with macros and clear guidelines on portion sizes (she doesn't say you need to pay attention to calories but she includes that information)
- A fitness program that I haven't even begun to look into
- A daily journal template to copy
- An entire section of the book devoted to cultivating the right mindset so that readers feel motivated
- Great illustrations (paper book is much more beautiful than Kindle)
..... And more....
Not only does she have all the things I look for in a food plan, but I appreciate her food and diet philosophy. She makes it very clear that these are guidelines and not harsh rules. Although she recommends that everyone avoid refined flour in their day-to-day diets, she explains the importance of personalization: some people will want to reintroduce dairy, corn, legumes, and even natural sugar. And she fully understands that it's silly to make any food, including flour, "illegal" because it's natural to want to participate in holidays and celebrations. Basically, she puts the reins in the hands of the reader. This is SO important. One of the main reasons people rebel against food plans is because someone else's set of rules has been forced upon them. I know that I subconsciously don't like being told what I can and can't eat. I want guidelines and tools, not rules. And that's what she gives us!
I'll admit I haven't started the 28-Day Project yet aside from cooking some of the basic proteins and vegetables. I'm a huge believer in taking small, sustainable steps. I probably won't start the fitness regime for another week. But to quote her: "You (too) are still IN the Project! I want to meet you where you are."
There is a 4 week menu to help you get started and a weekly shopping list. I mean, seriously, all the hard work (IMO) is already done. And don’t let the word “paleo” stop you from trying these recipes. They are phenomenal and we have only come across a few we didn’t like.
A workout plan is also included along with some info about healthy eating. But the hubs has lost 15lbs WITHOUT EVEN DOING THE WORKOUT PLAN. Woo hoo!!
This cookbook has been a game changer for us. My son said to me the other night, “Mom, now your food is cooked with love and not with hate.” And he’s absolutely right.
