I expected the bottles of the falernum to be spicier with the flavors of cloves and almonds, This products recipe is lacking these spices. What this is, is a lot of sugar syrup and little flavor. I will look for another brand, in the meantime I have added small amounts of ground cloves and almond extract in my drinks to enhance the flavor. Very small additions, like there dashes of Bitters type. Less is better. For what Lee's is offering, I was disappointed.

I bought this brand because this company had the cheapest shipping charges The cost of the actual product was pretty much the same. I have only bought Taylor's Velvet Falernum previously, but tried to save some money. BIG MISTAKE! This stuff tastes nasty. I actually felt nauseous after drinking it. I checked the Amazon site about returning it, but the site says "gourmet foods" are not returnable, so I didn't persue trying to return it. The vendor was actually quite good in terms of how quickly they got the product to me, but unfortunately I really disliked the product.

Falernum is supposedly a type of Italian wine, but this stuff has nothing to do with that. It's a sort of bitters used in making cocktails, particularly test pilots. The recipes for falernum call for lime peel, but we have no idea how they make this, but it doesn't matter. It has the right slightly musty taste and mixes nicely with the lime juice and rum. (That's how we make our Test Pilots using Beach Bum Barry's recipe.)

Falernum is surprisingly hard to find around here in Seattle. DaVinci, the local outfit that makes all those flavorings for coffee (e.g. hazelnut, passion fruit, vanilla) stopped making falernum a while back, so we had to scramble. DaVinci explained that there just wasn't enough demand, perhaps because it would taste completely awful in coffee. Luckily, the Fee Brothers make a great falernum. Give it a try at your next tiki party.

Well, it's better than no falernum at all.....but Fee Brothers uses corn syrup, not sugar cane syrup, and that's the most important ingredient. This will do for a substitute if you have no Bermuda falernum (Gosling's is the gold standard) and no time to try out recipes for homemade. It's not awful. I give them credit for trying, and I really, really like Fee Brothers....small family-owned company for generations, with a variety of unusual mixers. I wish they'd have a go at using real cane syrup, I'd gladly pay this price for something that approximates the real thing. As it stands, I think this is rather expensive for a corn syrup concoction.

Not the best, but also not the worst. Buy this for batch cocktails or well drinks, but if you need a perfect Tiki drink and you are using top shelf liquor, go with something better like Trader Tiki or B.G. Reynolds. This falernum is heavy on the sugar and light on the spices (similar to the Fee Brothers Orgeat). Still, if you are making pitchers of Zombies it works just fine.

Also, the bottle came without the Fee Brothers Label, just a distributor's stocking code sticker. A little weird, but it does not affect the product.

I've been looking for this product locally for quite some time and had feared I'd have to wait until my next trip to the Bahamas to get it and then I found it on Amazon! Great service in how quickly it was shipped, but there was one small problem. The bottle was leeking. It seemed to be sealed appropriately, but the wrappings were wet and sticky.

Fallernum is a pretty rare item, tough to find in many cities, but is finally avail here, and is priced well considering. It's a great additive to many tropical drinks. Buy this when you want to blend Island drinks for people you like you'll have over- it adds a nice flavor punch!

Tastes like a processed sweetener that's devoid of any of the described flavors. At best, it's a cheap sour mix.
