This is the second iteration of this book and its certainly one of the most fun. It appears be self-published by the author who is a journalist from Spain, maybe Catalan specifically. It is a beautiful book filled with so many pictures that complement the text. It has adverts, pictures of the individual members over the years, album covers, bootleg covers, magazine covers, really every kind of picture you can imagine that is related to the Velvet Underground. This book was clearly a labor of love. I'd never heard of it before I found it in the used book store. Its easily the best VU book in terms of pictures and tracing the members paths through the years. The book is 250 pages or so and it must have over 200 individual pictures of anyone or anything having to do with the Velvet Underground. From the earliest promo pictures of Lou Reed and Nico before VU even existed, to pictures of their reunions and solo projects, to pictures toward the end of Sterling Morrison's life. So much like bootlegs and fanzines and other things created in the band's wake is covered. The text is well written (and translated well from Spanish) and comprehensively covers everything everybody from the Velvet Underground did as a group and as individuals. Really a great book. It measures 8 by 8 inches and is on nice glossy paper. Whoever laid it did a great job. If you can find a cheap used copy, this is a steal. I don't know what this book sold for new, but it could easily have been $30 considering the great color pictures and the all around quality of the book, to say nothing of all the research that went into making a book like this. The author obviously spent years collecting all the pics and this information to put this book together. Beautiful. A feast for the eyes and a great read.
