Describe your product in 3 words.
Reliable. Functional. Fun!
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
We have 3 pets and when we were looking for a pet feeder to fit our needs, we couldn’t see anything that combined functionality with technology and fun. So we thought we would invent something that worked for us. 4 years and endless prototypes, testing, testing and retesting later, we still use our own products every day along with all our customers.
What makes your product special?
We wanted Feed and Go to be accessible to any pet owner and when we researched the features we needed to include in it, we found various shortfalls on other products. We addressed this by building in various unique features such as the webcam, the ability to feed wet/dry food, treats and medication, and then creating a locking mechanism to ensure a pet can never get into or knock over their Feed and Go. Now, with our new iOS and Android apps, we are the smartest pet feeder in the world. Finally, Feed and Go looks so much cooler than anything else!
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
We have been lucky enough to receive a lot of communication from customers that told us that our little product has been really instrumental in their lives. Various people stand out, but this communication was the email that sticks out most of all – “It was such a blessing to me when my dog Bella became ill with pancreatic cancer. It helped give me some piece of mind while I had to be at work, I could check in on her and be sure she was ok. I would recommend this product to anyone who has an animal they love. If I could I would sell the Feed and Go myself! Best money I ever spent, thank you Feed and Go.”

So the two things I thought were going to be pretty pointless turned out to be my favorite features. Those are the voice recording and the webcam. We have 2 cats. My sisters cat (Missy) is free fed dry food and since I'm doing the absolute opposite (meal feeding wet food) I was worried that Missy would end up eating Ping's food. I also didn't realize until I got it that it might take a little time for Ping to know to go the feeder when the compartment opens; that's why the recording is awesome. At the beginning she didn't come over when she heard it which was pretty frustrating. I would press the button a bunch of times and on the webcam she would never show up. After awhile she figured it out and I'm able to see her come running into the room. If it didn't have the webcam, one, I wouldn't know if she actually ate, and two, I wouldn't know if Missy ate her food. With the voice recording I can make sure she comes to the feeder before I press the "Feed Now" button. It would be frustrating if it only had the feed now button because then there would be the possibility that Missy would come over and I would just have to watch her eat Ping's food on the webcam.
Onto general stuff. Overall the feeder is very good quality. I don't see this breaking anytime soon. Ping can't get into it since it rotates underneath the cover and in order to open it you have to press two buttons at the same time.
Also, just something to be aware of, when I first got it and set it up I would try to click the call my pet over or feed now button and it would say it wasn't connected to the Internet, even though I just set it up and according to the back of the feeder it was connected. It only happened a few times and now it never happens so don't worry about it if that happens to you because it will probably go away.
And someone said something about wet food getting pushed into the corners. Ping has had a fine time getting all her food, but if this becomes a problem I would suggest getting some silicone cupcake holders and cutting them so they're shallow enough to fit inside the compartment and putting the food in there.
-one thing that really annoys me is that when you click "Call my pet over" a window pops up that says "do you want to call you pet over?" I click yes then another window pops up that says "do you want to open the webcam?" I click yes, even though the webcam was already open. I often times have to click the call my pet over button 5-10 times until Ping will come over, in the beginning it was waaay more. So it's really annoying to go through those windows so many times. I wish there was a feature that I could choose to call her over how many times and at what intervals. So I could choose to call her over say 10 times at 5 second intervals. It would make things so much easier. Sometimes I sit there for 5 minutes just pressing the call my pet over button over and over agin because she either doesn't hear it or maybe she's asleep. It's very frustrating.
I will post any updates if anything changes.
I don't often write Amazon reviews, but feel impelled to as Feed and Go is epic! There are lots of automatic feeders out there but none quite like this. I chose this one because it allowed me to feed my dog wet food, which due to his sensitive stomach is the only food he can eat. Plus, it has an awesome webcam... who doesn't want that right!? Here are my thoughts specifically.
Simple. Plugged it in, hit the wps buttons and it connected to my wifi.
***How I've found using it:***
I've been using Feed and Go for a few weeks now and I don't know how I lived without it. I'm out at work for around 8 hours most days and I've started using the feeder to check in on Mackenzie. On my phone I just head to my account and turn on the webcam. I have it pointed towards the door (where he always waits for me) and I can check he's ok. That feature alone is worth the money.
I've been feeding Mackenzie a strict diet for his sensitive stomach. Feed and Go allows me to be just as strict with his feeding time, which as you know is essential to a good routine and to help him with his IBS.
Urgh, finally, a feeder that's reliable. We had an automatic feeder (I won't name names but it only allowed dry food so we used it sparingly) but I couldn't trust it. I would come home and the tray didn't look like he'd been fed, but as all the food was in one big box above the feeder, I couldn't even check if he had or not. I know that many times I've either fed his twice or not at all because of this! Feed and Go is super reliable, has never let me down, I can check the tray (simple) to see if he's been fed when I get back back, and the feeder also stores the schedule in its own internal memory incase my wifi goes down (not something I've had to test fortunately).
***Massive unexpected benefits:***
***Separation Anxiety***Mackenzie love us, and we didn't realize that he missed us as much as he did while we are out the house. Feed and Go allowed us to see what we believe was the start of 'separation anxiety'. So what we started doing is adding treats to the feeder. I log into the feeder during the day and give him a treat. He hears my recorded voice from the feeders speaker and gets to enjoy his favourite treat. He's started to get used to the feeder and now, a couple hours after I've left, he'll wait for a treat! It's massively calmed him down and he's less stressed while we're out.
***Medication*** Mackenzie had to take some antibiotics 12 hours apart and Feed and Go allowed me to be exact with the feeding times. Winning.
***Text Message** Quite often I have to stay late at work. When I don't, I love to feed Mackenzie myself (for dominance / alpha and simple love) and can do so by hitting the unlock button and then the feed button on top of the feeder). But when I'm running late, at work, or time runs away from me, the feeder feeds him, and I get A TEXT to let me know he's been fed!! So awesome.
So, get one, you won't regret it!!
