Feeding the Fire is the second book in the Rosewood Series but can be read as a stand alone. We met Grant and Pepper in Facing the Music, but Feeding the fire is their story.
Grant has been trying to get Pepper's attention since high school, and Pepper refuses to acknowledge the town's bad boy. Not because of his reputation, but because of his last name. Pepper has been raised to hate all Chamberlain's and being as though Grant is a Chamberlain, she has to fight her attraction to him. When a mistake is made at the Valentine's day bachelor auction and Pepper ends up bidding on Grant, instead of being happy, all she wants to do is cry.
Thanks to some meddling from Grant's grandma, Grant works on making everything up to Pepper by helping her for the week of valentine's day to get her house fixed up. During the week these two build a friendship, and things definitely progress between these two. I loved how much they both cared for one another, but how scared they were to be with one another.
One thing Grant believes in is honesty, with the things he's seen, and who his father is, he want's nothing but honesty with the people he has in his life. When Pepper has a secret that isn't hers to tell, things definitely get tense between the two, and instead of fighting for what she wants, she walks out on Grant.
Pepper and Grant's relationship isn't easy for either one of them.Read more ›
I received this book for an honest review.
Small town family secrets that could cause a lot of hurt for two families come together when Grant and Pepper begin to explore a relationship. A page turner that keeps you reading as the emotional roller coaster of anger, distrust, and a budding love into the lives of the Chamberlain and Anthony families. Can Grant and Pepper overcome these secrets in order to have a HEA?
Love the story and looking forward to the other stories in the Rosewood Series.
When Grant volunteers to participate in a charity auction he is surprised to find Pepper has bid on him. But Pepper is even more surprised because she had no intention of bidding on anyone, let alone a Chamberlain. When Grant's grandmother accidently spills water on Pepper, causing her to jump up and place the winning bid, Pepper is certain her dreams of restoring her house are over.
This book is well written. The plot twists and turns make it so you can't put it down. Andrea Laurence does an excellent job of intricately connecting the characters so that you can't wait for the next book in this series. I look forward to reading more from Andrea Laurence.
AH! I just LOVED Feeding the Fire! An accidental bid at a charity auction sparks a relationship Pepper and Grant had long been fighting - It was fun and flirty with a heaping dose of heat! I am beyond excited to check out the other books in the series now and discover more about the other characters.
Feeding the Fire was an addicting read that I started and just continued to keep read until I finished. Every time I had to put it down, it was a countdown until I could read more, or I would sneak in a few pages whenever I could. All in all, I had it finished in under a day.
Pepper and Grant are both awesome - I loved their characters and how well they just seemed to mesh together. Seeing them fight their attraction while having it form even more... it was just great.
Feeding the Fire is one heck of a read - and one I definitely recommend! A new favorite of mine from Andrea Laurence.
Feeding the Fire is book two in the Rosewood series by Andrea Laurence. This is my first Andrea Laurence book and I loved it. Her characters are so easy to relate to, fun yet complex. I thought this was going to just be a fun, silly romance but it ended up being so much more.
Pepper Anthony grew up in Rosewood, Alabama. Her father owns the local garage. They struggled just to get by most of her childhood but she and her brother, Logan were loved. Pepper’s entire life her mother repeatedly scorned the town’s wealthiest family, the Chamberlains. She was taught to believe they were evil, awful people.
Grant Chamberlain is the town’s sexy bachelor, riding around on his cool Harley, he could have any woman he wants, and frequently does. Grant is a firefighter which adds to his overall swoon factor. Ever since they were kids, though, Grant had a thing for Pepper. But she rebuffed his advances continually. As they grew into adults, he continued trying and she continued saying no, except for one time! That one time should have gotten her out of Grant’s system but it didn’t. It just made him want her more.
Pepper is a hair stylist at the town’s beauty parlor. She has been scrimping and saving her money and was able to buy a fixer-upper house of her very own. But it needs a lot of work so she has saved every penny and has accumulated $5000 to use for renovations. She has a week off scheduled and is so excited to start fixing up her house.
The town has scheduled a bachelor auction for a charity fund and every available single man is coerced into participating.Read more ›
