Its wonderful to visit with favorite characters from earlier books, and the earlier books are not a pre-requisite to read this book. The equestrian content is accurate, interesting, and fun, and certainly not too much for non-riders. This emotional book is a great read from the very first page. Filled with surprises, its impossible to put down.
The two main characters are, at first glance, two privileged individuals.
Annabelle is rich and beautiful. Her brother loves and takes care of her, and she has recently met a group of girls that have become good friends.
Alex is also rich, good looking and successful. A retired motorcycle champion, he is now pursuing his dream to study psychology.
Annabelle, however, is suffering from anorexia, while Alex is still grieving the loss of his youngest brother.
The story is very realistic in describing Annabelle’s struggle with her disease. There’s no easy way out, a lot of ugly moments, many drawbacks, and no therapy can really work unless Annabelle decides to fight.
Alex is a dream guy. He is sweet, understanding, patient, unconditionally in love with Annabelle. But he is not the only one to give - only through Annabelle is he able to find a way to make peace with his brother tragic death.
Feeding the Heart, in short, delivers the message that inner strength is the key to achieve our greatest goals. The path may not be easy, there could be many bumps in the road, but a lot can be achieved by keeping the final goal in sight and never losing hope.
