Now, with that said, what Susan Jeffers has to say in, "Feel The Fear...And Do It Anyway", isn't anything that's earth shattering or even new. Most of it is probably even things you may have thought yourself. However, the simplicity of what she says is delivered in a way that DOES make it fresh, new, and life changing.
I had been stuck in what a friend referred to as a "fur-lined rut" for well more than a decade. I knew I wanted to "unstick" myself, but just couldn't seem to make it happen. While reading through this the first time, I began putting the tenants into practice and began to see a change in my thinking first, and then in my actions next. I'm re-reading it again and the (positive!) changes keep flowing.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to make some change in their life but is held back by fear. This book doesn't make the fear go away - but it does inspire you to do what you need to do anyway.
The picture bellow is from our vacation with my girlfriend. I took couple of books with me and it just happens one of them to be "Feel the fear and do it anyway".For a long time I was trying and approaching my fears in different ways but this book finally gave me some guidelines in to how to deal with it .In sport we always set up goals and with new goals new fears come and new comfort zones need to be conquered.I am really grateful to have the chance to read such an amazing literature .Thanks to the author Susan Jeffers .
One last thing I want to share is an experience I had while hiking the "Gross Piton" in St.Lucia (the one from the picture). We were talking with our guide and asking questions about the history of the island and the story he shared with us really struck me .He said that when the spaniards came here first they couldn't take over the island because the local Indians were fighting very fearless. I ask him but how come they had guns and the locals were using sticks pretty much .And his answer was what shocked me .He said they didn't fear the guns because they didn't recognize them as a threat because they didn't know what guns are and jumped straight in front of them and fought . It's crazy how sometimes we make such a scary picture out of things because we anticipate the worse case scenario. What if only we didn't know what to expect and go back to that curious stage when we were curious kids and just jumped in front of the new challenges fearless ?
I'm very, very indecisive and it can be paralyzing to me and this book has helped me look at how to make decisions in a whole new light. I don't want to spoil the book for anyone so I won't go into detail, but it basically comes down to the fact that any decision you make with take you on a certain path and yield a different result. The focus is NOT on making a right or wrong choice, but deciding to make a decision and being confident with your choice. I HIGHLY recommend this book, it's wonderful and the writing style is natural and feels like your talking to a friend when you're reading it.
I had no idea there's actually many steps and actions to take before you actually change something important about yourself. There could be a few things to change depending on the situation. Not giving any of them away, the author lays them out to early understand.
Every chapter is comprehendible and easy to read. For best results, I take notes when reading important books like this. It gives me the mindset of how important the topics really are in tis book.
To give yourself a sense of confidence and life altering change, I'd strongly recommend this book. You will enjoy your purchase, which gets a high five stars!
Top international reviews
Sometimes bad stuff happens and it will totally ruin your life/ mood/ day, and yet the author would say that this reaction is solely your own fault.
What could have been a decent realistic self help book was undermined massively by this naive pink and fluffy outlook.
Feel massively ripped off.
It just doesn't get started. The whole book is an intro with no real substance. Ptttf!
The authors words will resonate with everyone. You have to change the way you view things and realise that fear is a feeling you create within yourself.Accept the feeling of fear but then do not give it anymore attention.Instead play your favourite dance music or watch a comedy. I hope you all find your inner peace.
I was impressed with her ideas that I bought her follow up book, "Feel the Fear and Beyond", and think the same of it.
