Editorial Reviews

One of the busiest and most in demand performers in contemporary jazz re-emerges. You ll feel the temperature rising with the release of red hot guitarist/vocalist Nick Colionne s latest offering and first for Trippin N Rhythm Records entitled Feel The Heat one that contains all of the elements that have come to make Nick s stage performances so dynamic and in demand funky R&B infused jazz, blues, smooth vocals and his sense of humor.
Feel his trademark funk/groove guitar stylings on the tracks Some Funky and The Windy Dance the kind of movin tunes that get Nick s audiences on their feet and groovin to the beat. Nick backs off the throttle a bit showing his soulful, sultry side with the ballads Let s Spend Some Time and Midnight And You highlighted by Nick s signature smooth baritone vocals and adds a heaping helping of the blues as only he can do on Can t Let Go .
No One Size Fits All here as Heat reflects the multiplicity of different styles and flavors that have come to define this feel good artist with a natural flair and charisma that has endeared him to multitudes worldwide.

I am feeling the heat from this latest from Nick Colionne. I own all of Nick's CDs and do not let some of the other reviewers stop you from checking out this gem. Yes there are a few smooth vocals on this CD, and for smooth jazz fans the deep rich vocals are well received. There is a vocal track as well that shows Nick's humor as well. I am really sorry the other reviewers could not catch the flair. Feel the Heat is a CD that I can play all the way thru and enjoy every track. Keep up the great work Nick and looking forward to Feeling the Heat on tour this year. Some Funky and The Connection are two of my favorites.

Nick Colionne's lastest CD is over the top. Having seen Nick perform in person as well as having purchased his 6 earlier CD's, I think this lastest project really reflects the breath of his artistry. I am glad to see more vocal tracks as he has a great voice and it comes out in this CD. His instrumentals are upbeat and refreshing.... how can he make the guitar sound so good? I have have listened to Feel The Heat at least a dozen times... and enjoyed it more each time I listened. Thanks Nick... the music is great. If you are wondering were to invest your $$ musically... well here is a sure winner.

One thing you can sure say about Nick Colionne - unlike a lot of artists out there, he never makes the same cd twice. His new one is a complete winner. Jazz, funk, blues, R&B, vocals - the man can do it all, and he does on this cd. It's well paced, has a great flow to it and the guitar playing is, as usual, impeccable. What's really cool about this one is that he has four vocals on it, and he can sing for real -Two excellent R&B type tunes, one blues tune that reminded me of Gary Moore-type guitar, and a totally cool toe-tapper called Po House that you just have to hear. I'm tempted to call it a great summer cd but I know I'll be listening all year to this one.

I recently purchased Feel The Heat but just had a chance to listen to it all the way through this past weekend and I was blown away by it. It's far and away Nick's best to date. The guitar work is alternately funky (Some Funky and There It Is in particular) and smooth (Wessin' is a tremendous take on the late great Wes Montgomery), the bluesy hook on Can't Let Go is outstanding as are Nick's vocals on this tune, and there's an old school R&B vibe on the vocals Let's Spend Some Time and Midnight and You - I could almost hear Barry White! According to the liner notes It's Gonna Be Alright and The Connection were recorded with keyboardist James Lloyd from Pieces of a Dream who also wrote them, both are outstanding. The clincher for me was the last tune - Po House - which is a total surprise and something I never expected although I probably should have, since I've seen him perform live several times and it's totally in character with his stage shows. It actually had me laughing out loud and I've found myself singing the refrain a few times to myself! All in all, five stars and please, Nick, keep the great music coming!

Kudos to Nick on another terrific album! This album gives us more of the stuff we love from Nick - feel good music that you can bob your head to! My early fav's are It's Gonna Be Alright, Some Funky, Windy Dance and I like that he stretches out a bit to include some vocals! I can see him growing that part of his artistry and including it on more albums in the future! Too often artists get stuck in one place - all I can say is Go Nick!
