Cons: Price. OUCH. Firmware updates are Windows only (had to break out my old windows laptop for the first time in years). It's takes some practice to get all the shots you want, and to switch between modes. After a few hours of figuring it out, I'm good now. I don't like the battery setup. I wish they would have done a single Lithium Ion instead of the 3 rechargeable lithium CR123s. It’s difficult to safely transport it. I’ve just been keeping it in the original box, but it’s kind of big. Fifteen sec boot-up times make it hard to quickly capture action.
Pros: Super pro looking videos. 3 cool modes. Firmware updates always coming out making things better. Pretty decent battery life.
Let me start off by saying it's not perfect, but it'll make your videos a ton better without the shaky footage. There's definitely a technique in using this gimbal as far as walking with it and filming, and I'm sure as you get this down your videos will become even smoother.
I used it at an auto show recently, you can go to my You Tube Ch. (Ely C) for sample vids,here's one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs-LNBQBJKg
As far as battery life, it's decent. I switched batteries on my go pro 3 different times and the Feiyu tech was still running. Filmed about 6 hours off and on on that day. Only complaint as some others have noted here is the wiring that's exposed, it seems like it's delicate so you'll definitely want to be aware of that. One other thing, I noticed as I would pan horizontally, the gimbal would have just a slight jerky movement at times. But I'm guessing a firmware update should fix that issue. I used it straight out of box assuming it was delivered with latest update so that's not manufacturer's or sellers fault.
Overall I highly recommend this gimbal if you want your go pro footage and videos to look a lot smoother and with a professional look.
1) The biggest point deals with the batteries. A lot of people said that it doesn't make since that it comes with 4 batteries, a charger that charges 2 batteries at the same time, but uses 3. However, when mine arrived I only received 2 batteries and a charger that can charge 3. The batteries it comes with are 3.7v 650mAh cr123a 16340. I live in Denver and I couldn't find a place that sells these batteries. Regardless if you have 2 or 4 batteries I advise you get some replacement ones as this thing lasted less than 1hr on fully charged batteries.
==UPDATE=======
The batteries are terrible and unreliable. Don't even bother with the blue replacements, yes, some might be good but it has a 50/50 fail rate. Plus, the charge time is a 3 to 1 charge to use. If you use it for 1 hour, it will take 3 hrs to charge. For virtually this reason alone I have dropped it down to 3 stars, however, most the 3-axis gimbals use the same batteries. I found a work around using external 3S hobby batteries. It takes a bit of soldering and I needed to drill a hold in the battery housing. Doing this gets longer battery life, shorter charge times, and the 3S batteries are available locally. If you are using the G3 commercial use this mode is well worth the time and effort.
================
The battery charger is also cheap, if you can find a bundle that comes with both batteries and a better charger I would go for it.
You are able to put the camera in upside down which offers some advantages and disadvantages. By putting it upside down it makes it nearly impossible to fall out by accident since the lens housing acts as a stop. It also gives you easy access to the wifi button on the side. This also puts the sensor directly in front of the roll motor which may or may not be of benefit. The downside is that it makes it slightly off balance but not to a point that it causes problems stabilizing. It also takes away easy access to the card port.
It takes a bit more practices to get really smooth shots than I was expecting. It goes 80-90% of the way out of the box but getting it to 100% takes a bit of practice.
When using it, try and hold it as straight as possible. I thought I could hold it at a slight angle which is more comfortable but if you do that it makes the motor work more and if the motor is working more then you are losing battery power faster.
If you have a Mac, you can not update the firmware. I thought I could out smart it but I just couldn't. However, out of the box mine had the current firmware and they haven't updated it in a while (probably because they want people to buy the G4).
Anyway, other than that it is pretty much what you would expect. I am giving it 3 stars because of the battery problems and lack of Apple support.
Too bad it failed in this way. Other then this problem the gimbal worked remarkably well -- given it's obvious limitations (no way to monitor what you are shooting, go pro... Either the screws are just too small or they where not sufficiently tightened at the factory.
