Support supplements to my cats for some time, and I have to say the results seemed good, but I will not do so any longer, as I just realized that they contain maltodextrin (see ingredient list above under Questions). Maltodextrin is an "artificial sugar". It is used in many supplements primarily as a binder for the ingredients. However, it is also an "excitotoxin" that usually contains MSG. We all know that MSG is bad for us, and I wonder how much more it might affect a small animal like a cat? I myself am quite sensitive to MSG, and sometimes will be up all night with a racing heart if I unwittingly ingest something with MSG in it. I love my cats too much to take any chances, so this product is going in the garbage. Standard Process is slipping away from the principles of their founder, Royal Lee, and to their detriment. I don't think he would be happy with some of their decisions today. Sad.
The shot helped with the nausea, so I figured I could wait, taking it day by day. I did some research to find something (besides another $1000 vet bill) to try to help her and came across feline whole body support. Figured, what the heck....it can't hurt.
After three weeks of two tablets two times per day, Sniffer is up and about. She is by no means perfect, but is carrying about her daily routine. The vomiting and diarrhea have not returned, she is eating and using the litter box, and is sleeping in her usual places. As I know she is ill, I did not expect miracles, but believe this supplement helped her feel comfortable and possibly extend her life. Even if it for a few weeks, I will take it.
Forgot to mention....she eats these things like treats. I just shake the jar and she comes running. I will keep using them and continue to take it day by day....
High quality product, as most Standard Process supplements are. My past and present cats have taken/do take various Standard Process supplements, all of which have effectively maintained each cat's health for a variety of chronic ailments (as prescribed by their veterinarian). I highly suggest consulting with a holistic veterinarian before administering any supplements, though.
The cat who takes this particular supplement will actually eat the pill on her own. I don't have to bother pilling her. (Not saying this will be the case for all cats; but it's worth a try to see if your cat will eat the tabs as a "treat.")
Honestly, I would not consider another product brand than this one. A variety of their products have proven effective for my cats with varying ailments; to me this is not happenstance. These supplements, when given as prescribed and along with other at home treatment modalities, have actually maintained--and even improved (as seen in bloodwork)--my cats' health.
