MEET PRISMO - SUPERPOWERS FOR YOUR AEROPRESS COFFEE MAKER
Prismo is a pressure actuated valve designed to take your AeroPress Coffee Maker to the next level. This attachment allows for a buildup of pressure to brew espresso-style coffee and creates a no-drip seal for a full-immersion brew. Prismo’s espresso-style shots have a full and syrupy body with a thick, smooth mouthfeel. Compared to other methods for hand-pressing espresso, Prismo’s “crema” is longer lasting, more robust, and can be used for latte art.
Pressure Actuated Valve
The secret weapon for “pulling a shot” with more pressure. The special valve stays sealed until you press down and creates more pressure in order to brew coffee to a consistency closer to espresso than the AeroPress Coffee Maker on its own. Additionally, the valve’s small aperture fits directly over an espresso shot glass.
No-Drip Seal
Ditch the flip. Brew full-immersion coffee without inverting your AeroPress Coffee Maker. Or, if cold brew is more your style, leave your AeroPress in the fridge overnight upright without a single leak.
Reusable Metal Filter
Cut out the middleman. Prismo's reusable 70 micron etched fine metal filter makes brewing speedy and efficient while eliminating the need for your AeroPress Coffee Maker's paper filters.

First impression: Very pleasantly pleased with it - for multiple reasons expressed previously by others; please note that the number of stars I've assigned is based on items 1,2, &3...I'm not gonna base the star count on a purely subjective metric (flavor).
1: Looks to be well-made (take that with a grain of salt as I've just used it for the first time). I like the fact that it's only a single-layer filter - I've heard of nightmares with other metal filters using 2 layers where grounds get in between the two layers and you'll never get those grounds out...shouldn't have that problem with a single layer...at least if you do, you can stab the affected holes with a pin and get on with your life.
2: Zero drippage - when I first used the standard Aeropress with paper filters I thought it was stupid how you're supposed to stir the coffee brewage for x number of seconds whilst your coffee scoots right through the filter leaving you with a weaker brew. Yes, the inverted method takes care of this but still...the whole zero drippage thing is mucho nice - now I don't even need to flip.
3: Zero side jetting - even with using different size vessels, I'd always get at least a little side jet action making a mess on the counter or my clothes...not anymore.
4: Some folks will argue flavor & extraction qualities - frankly, people have different tastes - this metric is purely subjective so for those of you (you know who you are)...quit basing the # of stars you assign on a 100% subjective metric. As far as my personal tastes go - it was definitely a better tasting brew than I've managed with the standard paper filters (inverted method or traditional) when using the exact same grounds. Also worth noting, the product DEFINITELY had a thicker texture (obviously not espresso - everyone knows you don't get true espresso without selling your first-born child to buy a proper espresso machine). People also ascribe a lot to the crema produced - well...I didn't get much of any crema but that's not the fault of this device, it's the fault of using old back-up stash coffee since I ran out of the good stuff. Personally, given that it's a completely different extraction technique than a true espresso machine, you can all argue that it's not true crema...frankly I don't care, I'm not a coffee snob, flavor means more than presentation.
So far so good, if this thing breaks in a very short period of time, I'll note it here.
Cheers!
Levers can achieve something like this but you'll never get this in a piston.
However, this is a great product for the two reasons I wanted it.
1. A metal filter is reusable and can be washed easily for multiple cups a day.
2. The small rubber aperture means I do not have to balance the Aeropress upside down in the inverted method during the brew process and get some underbrewed dribble.
For those two requirements this products fits the ticket, if that was all that I was looking for and I didn't care about how they advertised this product would be a 5 star review for me. The things is, they describe the coffee you make as "espresso like" or similar and it doesn't sit right with me that people may be buying this product for the wrong reasons. the Fellow Prismo is an exceptional filter and valve attachment for an Aeropress.
The coffee is going to have fines in it if you use pre-ground or poorly uniform grounded coffee, and Aeropress recommend brewing with ground that are fine or close to espresso. If you feel a little uncomfortable drinking coffee with fines, you should include a paper filter in your set up when you brew, but that defeats half the purpose for my needs. Additionally the metal filter and the little rubber aperture and ribbed/lipped bottom make it a bit more difficult to clean than a default Aeropress.
All in all a good product but since I do not agree with the use of "espresso like" or "closer to espresso" in advertising, I can't rightly give this product 5 stars, IF you are looking for this products for the same reason I am, it is a must have, and I highly recommend it, if your looking to make espresso on the go or for cheap, look elsewhere.

In particular it means you no longer have to do the inverted method. So say you're using this at work: you can just put the AP with Prismo attached on the kitchen counter with nothing under it, do your pour/stir routine, then put the whole thing on top of a mug and go back to your desk while it brews. This is way better than the original cap, and having to be a little bit more careful not to make a mess.
Cleanup is also slightly better than with metal plates, as the filter part is reliably retained in the cap when you twist it off. So you don't have to carefully peel it off the puck and take care not to accidentally drop it in the bin. Just unscrew, click the puck out, rinse both parts under a running tap, done.
The only slight downside, and it's only very slight, is it reduces the volume of liquid you can push out before your mug overflows. This is because Prismo protrudes from the bottom of the AP slightly more than the original cap. But personally I brew and then dilute anyway, and have cups just-big-enough to still handle this. So it's a non-issue once you know it's a thing and adjust accordingly if needed.
If you're coming from using paper filters, it'll be different. Maybe you can use paper filters as well, and still benefit from the convenience boost. But I'm not the one to ask about that, I like my coffee a bit gritty and with all the oils left in :)
Colleagues who've bought it too have said similar things - so (IMO/YMMV) no more thinking, just buy it, I honestly don't think you'll regret getting this.
So what's wrong with it?
1) Misleading advertising. It doesn't magically create espresso. It adds barely any additional pressure to the coffee. This is a lie.
2) Mediocre coffee. If you like metal filter aeropress, may I reccommend something other than an aeropress - perhaps a moka pot or a french press? The aeropress creates a clean cup of coffee. This makes a muddy cup of coffee. What's that you say - you can put a paper filter on top of your metal filter? Then why did you pay £25 (more on this later).
3) Poorly finished. The model I recieved had to have its arms (that screw into the aeropress) shaved, because it would only fit in about 1/3 of the way and the only time I tried to go further it got stuck.
4) It gets stuck on the end of the aeropresss. Woe betide anyone who leaves this on the aeropress long enough for the whole contraption to cool. Yep, unless you are Popeye, you aren't getting this off. I had to use a pipe wrench. I climb 8a - I have strong enough hands.
5) Now you have to clean your aeropress. Just like all of the other frustrating coffee methods, you now have to scrub it clean. And the metal filter gets stuck in the cap, so you have to spend 2 minutes banging it against the side of a bin spraying used coffee everywhere, then dig around in your bin for the metal filter. Hope you didn't put anything grim in there yesterday.
6) It's £25. I don't quite know what posessed me to spend MORE THAN I PAID FOR MY AEROPRESS ON AN AEROPRESS ACCESSORY. Gullible fool. This one's 50% my fault. But 100% your fault if you buy one.
7) The metal filter you get with it is not compatiable with the normal aeropress cap. That's right - even if you wanted to salvage something of value from this horrorshow - you can't. Because Fellow hates you.
In short, this is a hateful little device that ruins your aeropress by tricking you into thinking you're not runing your aeropress, I am an idiot for buying it, and you will be too if you buy it.
Fellow: I hope you go bust.
But considering that I prefer paper filter aeropress, I could have lived without it. Also, it's a little bit more hassle to clean this compared to paper filters, which I reuse btw for a few times. Or maybe I haven't quite nailed my workflow because I don't use it as much?
Okish device then. Claims things I don't think it achieves. But still does give a good cup of coffee when called upon.
It is not really anything like espresso. That alone is disappointment enough.
Turns out that I am a paper filter person. The metal filter - those vaulted oils in other reviews - produces something that tastes like it probably comes from a motor oil company.
Keep your money in your pocket.
