This dress form has a metal downrod, not plastic. It has two points to insert the rod it so you can use it two ways. The jersey material is perfect and it was beyond easy to assemble. I don't use tools!
I ordered this last week after I bought a "dress form" (it was a furniture item that is decorative and adjustable from Hobby Lobby)
I went to place a skirt on the HL form to photograph my LuLaRoe clothing inventory and it broke right away. I returned it and immediately ordered this dress form. Ladies if you're using a dress form for photographing inventory, do not buy burlap! It shed all over the clothes. Get jersey and in a solid color, it will display your clothing in a more flattering way and not detract from it.
I hope you order this dress form, it's a solid and quality product!
Also, under the butt, there isn't any padding or any way to pin pants, just the underbody of the dress form and two holes for the "legs" to stand on the pole that is inserted into the stand. I wish the butt were complete, and the pole was inserted into a shaped leg, as opposed to some strange underbelly.
The shoulders are a little less defined than I had hoped based on the picture, but are still decent. I think that was wishful thinking on my part, as opposed to misrepresentation of a product.
It has nice padding on it, and I've already altered some clothes. The stand isn't some heavy-duty will-never-topple sort of thing, but it holds my dresses on quite nicely and due to its light weight, even a tiny girl like me can whip it around and easily transport it. The stand was very easy to assemble, but the legs didn't fit perfectly into their slots, so it took a bit of light pushing to get them in. Also! I chose this dress form because the breasts looked realistic- not for some pervy reasons, but because I've noticed on most singer and other, fancier dress forms, the breasts are just a weird gradual slope with no actual breast shape.
I would have given this item 5 stars if the waist were not so strange and the butt were complete.
-not very sturdy
-butt not fully shaped underneath
-good amount of padding, therefore easy to pin on
-realistic breast shape
-does have enough leg definition to make pants
All in all, I am happy with this purchase of a very inexpensive but useful dress form. I think it is a great starter for people with little spending money.
The only thing i noticed was that one shoulder is a bit higher than the other.
Nothing is life is perfect so i am still giving this dress form a five star.
After looking at the dress form closer, the shoulder is not off, its the hole the stand goes into. Therefore the dress form itself is a bit crooked.
Still love it and recommend it.
All that being said, I am fairly sure it is helping with my sales. I regret not buying a size small - it would be easier to pin to size than not have them fit. I selected this mannequin because it's similar to my size, and I thought I could use it as an aid for sewing, but with hindsight I should have just gotten the smaller size. Oh well.
