From the Author
Writing The Feminine Light for me was a highly introspective process. I was continually being guided to hear a message and, at times, I felt that the writing was almost automatic. Though I very much ground myself as a human being first and as a woman with a particular consciousness surrounding that, I am very much connected with something higher than myself. I experience this as a message that wants to express itself through me and that comes from a place of love. Although it did not initially begin that way, The Feminine Light is a foundational piece that supports all of my previous research and work in the fields of human development through the life-span and in women's studies. It is a philosophical culmination of all my work to date. I hope it will be received as an offering nurturing the beauty of the feminine spirit.

The Feminine Light offers teachings from the Tao Te Ching, and Stephany Yarbrough provides a profound selection of wisdoms, presented with stunning clarity, that are both timeless and universal. She also invites her readers to participate in a quest for self, through soul-probing questions offered with compassionate insight and understanding.
This author is as intriguing and provocative as Joseph Campbell (my hero), Eckhart Tolle, James Hillman, and Deepak Chopra. As they have, Stephany Yarbrough provides yet another piece in the never-ending puzzle for those who seek to understand God, nature, and the soul-self.
Stephany Yarbough's The Feminine Light is a serene read. I found myself quietly contemplating her questions, breathing softly, and then I realized that I will wear out this book and have to buy it again. It is a book that I will read each morning as I begin my day; gently reminded of what is of true value, what is really important, and to revisit the serenity I found in its pages.
The Feminine Light defines The Tao as "the way." I was amazed at the similarities I found in this book and Native American tradition. It is little wonder, now that I think about it, since that culture lived so close to nature. I do know it is a way to approach contemplation and life... peaceful enough to recognize love, comforted enough to extend love to others, able to trust in Heaven and God, and grounded in the knowledge of human nature as well as my own soul.
I want my daughters to read this book. When I need a give a gift I will give it to friends because they will love it. To any woman who is struggling to find answers, and who is seeking peace, contentment and self-awareness, I recommend this beautiful book.
I think if one is considering this book or any other on the subject, it would be to their benefit to also consider another book with greater detail and content. [ISBN 1-58542-099-9] paperback version of "Tao Te Ching" authored and researched by Johnathan Star. "The Definitive Edition" is still considered the best of the best and the best of his works to date. A newer version, while adequate, is considered secondary to this earlier version.
I have invested the past 4 years reading and considering Mr. Star's version much to my personal benefit.
Her commentary and questions give the reader a greater appreciation of the beauty and brilliance of the writings.
The feminine light she sheds is not only a gift to women but men who want to learn and grow from this amazing work.
I find that reading excerpts on a daily basis has nourished me even on my male life's journey.
