Challenging old and outdated perceptions that feminine traits are weaknesses, The Feminine Revolution revisits those characteristics to show how they are powerful assets that should be embraced rather than maligned. It argues that feminine traits have been mischaracterized as weak, fragile, diminutive, and embittered for too long, and offers a call to arms to redeem them as the superpowers and gifts that they are.
The authors, Amy Stanton and Catherine Connors, begin with a brief history of when-and-why these traits were defined as weaknesses, sharing opinions from iconic females including Marianne Williamson and Cindy Crawford. Then they offer a set of feminine principles that challenge current perceptions of feminine traits, while providing women new mindsets to reclaim those traits with confidence. The principles include counterintuitive messages, including:
Take things hard. Women feel things deeply, especially the hard stuff -- and that's a good thing.
Enjoy glamour. Peacocks' bright coloring and garish feathers are part of their survival strategy -- similar tactics are part of our happiness strategy.
Chit-chat. Women have been derogated for "gossip" for centuries. But what others call gossip, we call social connection.
Emote. Never let anyone tell you to not be emotional. Express your enthusiasm, love, affection and warmth.
Embrace your domestic side. Don't be ashamed to cultivate the beauty of your home and wrap your arms around friends and family.
With an upbeat blend of self-help and fresh analysis, The Feminine Revolution reboots femininity for the modern woman and provides her with the tools to accept and embrace her own authentic nature.

"I'd love for my daughter to grow up in a world where then men and women in her life support her and in which she won't have to sacrifice her femininity for the expense of her success. The Feminine Revolution is a beautiful exploration of that idea and can help lay the groundwork for that future."--Justin Baldoni, actor, filmmaker, and public speaker

With a background in traditional marketing and deep experience in marketing to and building brands for women, Amy Stanton has a unique perspective on the women’s landscape, the role of femininity in personal and professional lives, and the impact that unleashing our true feminine power can have on happiness.
Amy founded Stanton & Company (S&Co) with a passion for promoting and building positive female role models and messaging for women. Since 2006, when the company opened its doors, S&Co has built a roster of philosophy-driven brands, including exceptional athletes, lifestyle experts, and brands in the healthy, active living space.
Before founding Stanton & Company, Amy served as the first-ever chief marketing officer (CMO) for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and was the head of marketing and communications for NYC2012, New York’s Olympic bid, where she developed and executed both the local and international campaigns for this first-ever endeavor. Amy started her career in account management at advertising agencies including BBDO, JWT, and BBH, working on blue chip brands including Pizza Hut, Kodak, and Axe.
Between her leadership roles on Fortune 500 accounts in advertising, her role as the CMO at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and, most recently, as founder and CEO of a twelve-year-strong marketing and PR agency focused on building female-focused brands, Amy has deep experience in the women’s space and a wide range of relationships with powerful women who have inspired her thinking about femininity and how women can be our best. Amy has received accolades and awards from the Sports Business Journal and Women in Sports and Events (WISE) LA, and Stanton & Company has been recognized as an industry leader. She speaks about marketing and representation, women in sports, and women’s leadership.

The revelation here for me was that traits that have always been cast in a negative light - emotionality, sensitivity, mothering, to name a few - have come by those negative associations not because they are actual weaknesses, but simply because they are feminine. What if our society was matriarchal instead of patriarchal? What if the feminine sex had never been called the weaker sex? Would being sensitive be considered a source of power rather than a source of weakness?
The Feminine Revolution made me examine my femininity in that new light and embrace the power in being my true, feminine self.
The authors give insightful and practical advice on ways women can connect to their strengths; seeing feminine tendencies not things to be controlled or hidden, but rather super-powers to be harnessed!
