The only issues are a low quality bridge that buzzes and a jack that comes loose very easily.. At first I put some fingernail polish on the bridge screws so it wouldn't rattle but this was a temporary fix. I eventually replaced the bridge with a Mastery bridge, the best you can buy for this type of guitar. The jack was solved after the wiring inside broke. I re-soldered the switch with a longer wire and screwed the jack in extra tight then sealed it with another bit of fingernail polish on the inside to prevent it from getting loose quickly again.
You will also want to try a few different string gauges. I personally like a hybrid set 9-46, i tried a set of 10-46 on it but the high strings were getting caught in the nut when I used the tremolo bar and I didn't want to risk messing up the nut by filing it.
If you are handy and want an affordable short scale project guitar this is the one to buy. It sounds great out of the box and with a few minor custom changes over time you will have a fantastic quality instrument that I would put up next to Fenders that cost 3x as much.
You would be smart to have a luthier set it up, as the vintage bridges are tricky to get just right.
These Squires are great guitars. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend them to noth beginners and experienced players.
