For starters, the amp comes with a screen display that is very easy to follow and maneuver around with. The display makes customization much much easier when compared to other amps like the line 6. Customization with this amp is great. The amp comes pre-installed with 100 presets, which you are free to edit, or completely change as you please. This amp comes loaded with amps from every Era, giving you the ability to mimic nearly any sound without having to pay $$$ for countless numbers of pedals. This amp can easily cover blues, country, hard rock, Boston, KISS, heavy metal, etc. This amp also comes with many effects like wah, phaser, sine effects, great reverb effects and delays.
A question ive seen asked eith virtually any modeling amp has to do with its sound: how loud is this amp? Can i play this quietly at home and it still sound great?
This particular amp is 100 watts, which is PLENTY loud. Normally I play rock/metal, and on my current settings I never set my amp above the 3 on the master knob while at home. This amp will have absolutely no problem with an outdoor festival, indoor hall, school gig, or garage band practice.
Also, this amp is GREAT while playing at lower volumes. Not only does this amp retain its clear sound while below the 2 level, but you can also plug in headphones to hear it best. When playing at a very low volume on the amp, the first to go is bass, but that isn't necessarily the amps fault, but more of a side effect of playing on a quiet level.
This amp is absolutely FANTASTIC. I have recommended to a countless number of friends and would suggest this to anyone looking for a loud, customizable, and reliable amp.
But today, you buy and amp like this and you've got more power than a $10,000 effects rack had in 25 years ago.
IMPORTANT: This amp is quite intelligent on it's own, but when you connect it with the Fender Fuse the intelligence expands exponetially! I am not a pro and I don't gig. But, if I did, I wouldn't think of operating this amp without a laptop and Fender Fuse software connected. If you get this amp, you MUST, MUST, MUST connect the usb cord to a laptop running the Fender Fuse - you will be amazed!
WEIGHT: Back in the 90's I had a Peavy MX 130 which was an amp about the same size and RMS power as this Mustand, but it weighed a TON. (like mabye 50 lbs). Conversley, this little Mustang is very easy to cart around - it can't weigh more than 30 lbs. Feels easy on the shoulder.
VOLUME: This is not a quiet amp. I find that to get any real enjoyment out of it, it has to run a little on the loud side. This could be a problem if you live in an apartment or need to practice quietly. To give you an idea, I find that I have to turn it up to where the amp sound drowns out the natural sound of my strings. This is roughly equivalent to the level of sound you'd make if you were yelling accross the house for someone.
Bottom line, unless you're a pro or a studio muscian, I don't see how you could have any buyers' remorse at this price point.
Don't hesitate on this amp, just try it, literally you can have several amps in only one, is versatil, powerful and good looking, by the way, the effects are really good, maybe is not the best but at least the distortions and the amp simulations are so coo, useful and tasty; the delays and reverbs works so good either.
I've been tryin several amps like Vox valvetronic, Orange SS, and line 6, at the end Fender won! Besides It has something that the others don't, FX loop and xlr stereo outputs!!
