I had no clue what to look for in a guitar,I had a budget in mind and didn't want to spend too much in case I didn't follow through with it. I choose this guitar based on the reviews from others and that I recognize the Fender name, nothing more.
Initially I wasn't too impressed, it felt very very light, to the point that I thought that it felt cheap. It also had small defects around the neck. I wasn't expecting perfection though at this price and I'm not an expert so I won't give too much of a negative review.
Where I am going to dock a star from what it sounded like coming out of the box. It sounded HORRIBLE. Nothing I could do could change anything, I even broke a string trying to get it to sound different. Frustrated i swallowed my pride and took it to the local guitar store, you know where I didn't buy the guitar but could have. Luckily there were super cool about fixing it which took a total of 10 mins of adjusting the truss rod.
After the guitar store I was in business, scouring the internet for free lessons, learning how to hold my fingers, how to strum, getting my first chords down.
Would I purchase again as I sit right now on day 1? Yes, I like it, it sounds great now and the price to get into playing is pretty low. If you are on the fence I say go for it.

I was a little worried ordering a guitar to be shipped, but it came packed well and arrived in great condition. The guitar itself has a good sound to it, but isn't so fancy/pricey that I'm worried about beating it up a bit as a beginner. All in all, a good buy and I'd recommend it to others trying to start out in playing guitar.
P.S. eventually your fingers won't hurt from the strings ;)
Cons: it doesn’t stay in tune for very long. An upgraded tuner set wouldn’t be a bad idea to make this guitar last a noob for a longer period of time.
Here’s one thing I’m a little upset with: The paint is peeling off of the frets you use the most rather quickly. That’s discouraging seeing the guitar is only a month old and I’m only learning chords on the thing. I’m definitely not Joe Satriani so I’m not shredding on the thing either.
The included bag is garbage. Thin fabric material, one of the zippers already failed on the second zip up. You can almost fit the guitar in the bag. No padding at all either, so don’t expect it to actually protect anything.
Make sure to get yourself some light gauge picks if you’re a beginner. I can’t remember if the guitar came with some or not but I think it did and they were medium/heavy gauge.
Also make sure to get yourself a capo. Trust me, You’ll be glad you did when you realize that a few of the songs you want to play use one.
