2.0 out of 5 stars Get hot, lacks many features of older model.
By Alright Okay on July 5, 2018
I bought Fenix-branded headlamp about 5 years ago that was roughly this model and while it was made of plastic it is FAR superior to this model in many ways.

Why this lamp is inferior to older models:
- Heavier
- light gets very hot - almost burning.
- The light isn't removable from from headband.
- Double the price
- Reversed button config (new model requires you hold down the button to turn on and single-click to scroll through the brightness levels - this is backwards).
- No diffuser filter

Why this lamp might be better than previous models
- Metal body

This may be good for someone who needs a VERY rugged headlamp (all metal body) but for most residential/camping users this headlamp is too expensive and less useful than previous models.

My old models broke (the battery caps shown in the picture cracked) but I ended up repairing them very easily with super-glue. I called Fenix and they don't even offer the old version anymore. Not shown in the picture is the head band that has two c-clamps that hold the cylinder in place so that the light can be angled).

I'm gonna keep the new one but not because I think it's a good lamp.
