Fennel Seed Powder

Fennel's aroma, similar to anise and star anise, but, less pungent. Commonly used in alcohol, fennel is one of absinthe's three main ingredients.Fennel, otherwise known as Foeniculum vulgare, is a plant belonging to the genus Foeniculum. The fennel plant is native to the Mediterranean region, and the plant produces yellow flowers. Fennel is also an edible plant considered both aromatic and flavorful. Fennel serve your skin by providing various vitamins, which in turn give you a younger looking skin. Fennel tea, when consumed on a daily basis, helps in improving the overall texture of the skin as it treats acne and makes your skin look flawless and glowing.Fennel is a good source of potassium, Vitamin C, iron, and folic acid. The seeds contain powerful phytonutrients and antioxidants, the most potent of them being anethole, which makes them highly nutritious and powerful. Also called semillas de hinojo in Spanish, graines de fenouil in French, and budhur alfianal in Arabic, the seeds / powder are too beneficial to ignore. Spices are usually hot in nature, but Fennel is an exception. It is a cooling spice with a sweet-bitter taste. Fennel seeds are packed with essential nutrients such as vitamin C.

Sweet and Spicy Vegetable Pickle Recipe What you need: 1/2 cup carrot cubes,1/2 cup cauliflower florets,1/2 cup radish cubed,2 tbsp grated raw mango,1/2 tbsp roasted fennel seeds powder,1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp coriander powder,1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds powder,1/2 tsp nigella seeds,1/4 tsp asafoetida ,1 tbsp chilli powder,2 tbsp grated jaggery ,1/4 cup mustard oil,2 tsp salt Directions: Blanch the carrots, cauliflower and radish in salted water. Drain and place the blanched vegetables on an absorbent cloth and pat them dry. Heat the oil in a pan and add all the ingredients to it, stirring continuously. Cook till the jaggery has dissolved. Cool and serve immediately or store in a sterilised glass jar and refrigerated for upto 1 week.	Fennel Powder Juice Recipe What you need: 2 glasses of cold water 2 tbsp fennel seeds powder 2 tsp sugar Directions: Mix water, powdered fennel and sugar well and serve with ice cubes.	Sweet Corn Clear Soup with Fennel What you need: 1/2 cup sweet corn kernels ,1/4 cup fresh green peas,1/4 cup finely chopped carrots,4 cups vegetable stock,1 tsp grated ginger,1 tsp fennel seeds powder, salt to taste,1 tsp lemon juice,2 tsp sugar , 4 tbsp cornflakes . Directions: Bring the vegetable stock to boil in a deep pan and add all vegetables, mix well and cook until tender. Add all spices, mix well and boil for half minute. Serve hot garnished with corn flakes.

DO NOT PURCHASE. THIS FENNEL HAS BEEN ARTIFICIALLY DYED. I opened the bag too late to be returned, unfortunately... but when I did, it was so bright green I was immediately alarmed. I work with fennel a lot in my kitchen as well as in my professional herbal practice. I have never encountered so-called organic fennel powder that was this colour. I immediately put some on a paper towel, wet it, and saw the bright green dye come through.

Never thought I would need a pound of ground fennel, but now that I have it, I've been much more inclined to use it...since I no longer need to grind my own. I took out about 2 ounces and put that into a regular spice jar that sits on my shelf. The remainder was left in the original jar which I covered with a double layer of plastic wrap and then screwed down the lid. This will keep well in my cool dry food storage pantry. All this is important in warm, humid Hawaii.
MUCH less expensive this way.

I didn't give this 5 stars because I don't actually know how fennel powder is supposed to taste or how strong it should be. I found this to be my most go to seasoning. I use it in sauces on veggies in salads, you name it. Just makes the food taste better. I'm always cooking, cooking and cooking everyday and I make many different menus. Love this stuff.

I use this for inflaulance. I tried this instead of the seeds because as a powder it is suppose to work faster. I used it today and it worked but the powder is so fine I nearly choked to death. I will try it with a little water. The fragrance is so nice when you smell it in the bag. I am going to look for recipes using this.
