5.0 out of 5 starsEntertaining for all ages

We all loved this! Grand kids wanted to watch and we were skeptical with it being animated, we're not fans of animated. To our surprise it was great. We laughed, cried and cheered throughout the show. Would watch it again and wish more were as entertaining as this was. Recommend it for kids of all ages. You won't be disappointed

5.0 out of 5 starsTeaches Toughness of the Soul! Best kids movie!!!

My favorite kids movie by far!!!!
So beautiful and without EVIL shaddows. Just portraying how someone can be bullied for staying true to their self and yet they can become the hero of everyone else.

A beautiful lesson enwrapped in funny moments and sad moments. I highly recommend this movie.

5.0 out of 5 starsMy Nephew Played Me

My nephew wanted to stay up with me and watch a movie (clearly I’m the cool aunt). He asked if I knew about ‘Ferdinand’. Of course! I read the book a while ago (we don’t have to get into specifics). We got cozy and started the film and he fell asleep halfway through (he plays hard at school). There must’ve been a lot of irritants in the air, because my eyes were watery several times. As wonderful as I remembered it and compared notes with my nephew in the morning.

5.0 out of 5 starsFun, clean, funny, good message!

For other parents looking for a clean and fun movie, without compromising your moral values- this one is great! It is so refreshing to be able to watch something with my young kids and not have to cover their eyes, sensor, or have to explain a borderline joke or line in the movie.
The story line is really true to the original Ferdinand the Bull short cartoon from many years ago.

1.0 out of 5 starsFaulty dvd
Verified purchase
So far the movie looks cute but this dvd is clearly faulty or damaged, it is riddled with recording errors where the video breaks up. There are no visible scratches on the dvd, it just does not work correctly. I ordered it via warehouse deals BUT it was in the original packaging and there was no evidence of tampering.

4.0 out of 5 starsGood family fun, with nice human-based lessons

4 stars for cute anthropomorphic bull-loney that's great for a family night popcorn flick.

It's not going to win any awards. It's no Pixar; the morals are just slap-you-across-the-face obvious, and the writing is average. It's clearly nonsensical; anyone who has been around a cow before knows there isn't exactly this level of intelligence going on in there.

But you're looking at Ferdinand because you have kids and want quality entertainment. Know that you'll get it. It's pretty. It's fun. It's silly. You might even shed a few tears. You'll certainly appreciate the lessons of anti-bullying, pacifism, and perseverance. You'll probably have to explain why you are watching it after you just BBQed up some awesome burgers, but that conversation comes eventually no matter what (if you are vegan et al, you can safely dodge that bullet).

Definitely recommended.

4.0 out of 5 starsVery sweet story with an excellent message

My first review, below, faulted the story. But on seeing it several more times I think it was just my 55 year old attachment to the original that made me uncomfortable with the retelling. It is, in fact, a very good story all round.

"Very sweet story with an excellent message. Sixty years ago it was one of my favorites. The story is only about 15 minutes long so stretching it to fill a movie was difficult and not completely successful. But if you are a child it probably wont matter a bit."

5.0 out of 5 starsIt has a great climax that ends beautifully

***This review is for parents who might be passing up this movie based a few severe negative reviews. May be a little bit of a spoiler, though I don't give any details. *** I truly have to wonder if the negative reviewers watched the movie all the way through? If they did, I don't think they would be so severe. The ending won't leave you or children down. It has a great climax that ends beautifully. The movie will stir up many emotions but leave you happy if you watch it all the way. If you don't watch it all the way, then you probably will be in tears.
