Fermtechs Bottling Kits!
The Original Fast Racking Auto-Siphon with NSF-51 Food Grade Tubing
In 1987, we invented the fast racking auto-siphon. Racking was never the same. The tip on the racking cane is slightly larger than normal, which filters out a lot of the sediment during transfer.
We included NSF-51 Certified Tubing Clear Tubing with these kits. Our kink free tubing is PVC free, non toxic and safe to use for food and beverages. It is a multipurpose flexible tubing that pairs well with our siphons.
Important: Temperature maximum: 120˚F or 49˚C
- Single stroke action draws a siphon without disturbing sediment.
- Precision designed for smooth, leak-free operation.
- Prevents introduction of air at the seal.
- Disassembles easily for cleaning and sanitizing.
- Great for transferring from carboys and buckets.
Fermtech Regular 5/16" Auto Siphon with 8 feet of Tubing

This tubing will fit snug on racking canes, spigots, and bottle fillers. The clear tubing makes it easy to see the liquid while transferring, or filling bottles.
This Includes:
- 3/8" Regular Auto-Siphon for 5 gallon buckets and carboys.

First of all I ordered the 5/16 siphon and ended up with 8feet of 1/2 inch tubing... So that didn't work. Luckily I had ordered a stainless steel filling wand that came with 5/16 tubing which ended up saving the day.
Getting the tube onto the spout wasn't too hard. I heated the tip and forced it on the first try.
After a lot of trial and error I finally got it to start a siphon and managed to siphon my full 2 gallons of mead based on a 16th century recipe.
I cleaned it up using warm soapy water and ran it through a few times before rinsing it with cool water and cleaning it inside and out.
After setting it out to dry I noticed that the tip had become discolored and hazy on the inside. It looks like plastic damage from my alcohol going through it like others have reported, but my mead, at absolute most, is 15% alcohol.
Technically it worked, but the included tubing was wrong and I doubt I'll use it again after the visible damage.
Bottom line is if you need something to rack or bottle in a pinch this will do the job, but it's really not worth it in the long run. If you plan to do multiple batches look elsewhere.
I like -
- 8 feet of included hose was WAY more than I needed. However, I'd rather have too much than not enough.
- The plastic nozzle head on the bottom can handle just about anything without getting clogged. I've used to to drain a clogged mash tun with about 12 pounds of grain in it and it maybe clogged twice in twenty minutes. That's about the most extreme thing you can throw at a siphon and it handled it better than expected (thankfully).

Overall, for the price this is an item that should be on your must buy list if you're brewing at home.
It was not evident while it was in the package, but there was a quarter-sized star-shaped crack on the side of the main part of the siphon tube that made the first unit I received unusable.
I contacted the seller and they worked quickly to remedy the issue. I returned the broken item via an Amazon kiosk at a retailer near me, and the new one was shipped to me. It was not very long before it arrived.
I received it and the new unit was in perfect condition. I have used it several times since then. Works wonderfully.
It is a bit difficult to get the 8 foot of tubing onto the siphon angled tube at the top (heated water is your friend), and you have to be careful when putting it on to fully support the angled tube so that it won't break. The plastic seems a bit brittle, but it is not flimsy. So long as you are careful and don't over-flex the angled tube, you should be fine. Also don't let the tubing drag as dead weight on that tube if you can help it to increase the longevity of the siphon.
The packaging for shipping could be improved to better protect that top angled tube from impact. Both the units I received were put in a box that was too long for the item by almost a foot and a half, and the padding was just a couple of shreds of partially-wadded paper that were not positioned to cushion where the tube was. One good impact to that tube and the whole siphon is ruined. I was lucky that wasn't my issue on either unit I received.
The siphon worked great and it sealed well enough to pump and prime itself like expected. The only slight drawback is that the tubing is an extremely tight fit. Even after running really hot water over the end of the tube, to make it a little softer and more flexible, it still barely went on. This might be good for preventing air from coming in where the tubing attaches to the cain. But the downside is that the other end of this tube is even harder to fit over the opening of a plastic faucet (for pumping sanitizer into the faucet and through my draft lines). A slightly larger diameter tube is easier to use.
