Product Description
Criceti 15 is a large and comfortable cage for small rodents such as hamsters. The habitat has a solid structure with painted wire mesh and a large plastic bottom. The corners and the upper frame have been reinforced with plastic profiles to ensure maximum tightness of the structure. Inside, the environment is spread over two floors connected by a ladder. Safe for the animal, Criceti 15 has a wire mesh roof opening to allow an easy access to the inside of the cage, which can be locked by means of special rotating closing clips. Inside, you'll find everything you need for your hamster's wellbeing: a feeder, a drinking bottle, a resting house and a wheel to keep them in shape at all times. Criceti 15 is a modular cage, designed to be connected to other cages or housing modules by means of special plastic tubes to be attached to the adapters located in the cage mesh. For maintenance purposes, the net can be separated from the bottom by simply unhooking the side fixing clips.

I'd rather them not include any of the plastic accessories though because they are far too small for a Syrian hamster. They might be suitable for mice or a dwarf but I'd rather just buy my own accessories and pay less for a cage.

I have a Russian Dwarf and it’s plenty of space for her and will probably suffice for a Syrian.
The assembly instructions aren’t great but to be honest the cage is easy to put together, you just need to work out which way the cage parts fits into the side trims (they can only fit one way so should be straight forward). One thing I would say is that there are square holes to fit the Ferplast optional tubes. In the product photos, it shows one at each side aligned to one another. This isn’t the case for me, it was one at each side diagonal to each other. I don’t know whether that was a mistake in the part or if this is a new version. I have a feeling this is a mistake and I was sent two identical side cage parts instead of the one specific part for each side.
Anyway, unlikely I’ll be using the tubes so doesn’t really bother me, just a shame as this is the 2nd time I ordered this, first one was broken on arrival.
At £50 I expected slightly better quality to the similar size cages you can get at PetsAtHome for £35, especially for a branded product. However, the wheel, water bottle, base, platform, ladder to get to the platform all seem a bit cheap and of similar quality to the cheaper cages. Saying that the platform is held by screw on clips that does make the platform feel quite secure, so bonus points there.
The wheel is not noisy but it is small and not big enough for a Syrian but just about big enough for a Russian Dwarf.. Just.
As said before the Hut, food dish all are standard cheapo ones and if you’ll probably want to replace with better products, but by all means the items will suffice and nothing wrong with using them, especially if you're just getting started.
The base unit is deep, 15cm deep, so you can have quite deep bedding without fear of the hamster kicking it all out of the cage. Being a big deep cage, also means you use more bedding with in turn means you have to change less frequently, especially if you only have one dwarf, spot clean will suffice and a complete change every 4 - 6 weeks or maybe even 2months, (thats my thinking anyway).
There is only one opening and that is the lid at the top, which fully opens, which gives you unrestricted access to the full length of the cage making it easier to get your hamster out and for cleaning. I wish there was a side opening which would be easier for younger kids as they might not be able to reach the top if the cage is say on a sideboard. The lid is secured by two clips that you turn on the top. Because of the top opening, this will move any hanging objects from the lid so bear that in mind.
The cage frame is held to the base by two clips, one at each side which seems secure, but I think it would be better to have four clips with a cage of this size.
Although the materials used for the huts, wheel, platform etc seem cheap, once the frame is secured on the base unit, the whole unit seems robust and can be moved around without too much worry.
The top frame that houses the lid clips on to front and back cage frame in various places, but it seems the corner parts just sits in place, this seemed a bit odd, you would thought they would sit and slide into the corner edge clips. You will see what I mean when you put it together. However, this does not impact the functionality and stability of the cage.
The platform as you can see from the product photos is the corner platform and takes up about 1/3 of the cage, measuring roughly 38cm at each edge. To get up to the platform, there is a ladder which is held loosely by two tiny plastic hooks, it’s flimsy and that is being kind. I cannot see it lasting long with a Syrian hamster, but for a dwarf it may last longer. You can obviously get 3rd part ladders and maybe that is the way to go but disappointing that you would even have to consider getting another ladder.
As mentioned the cage is big and its great having unrestricted access when viewing the hamster. I’ve had cages where you have multiple platforms and it all looks good but a nightmare for cleaning, and restricts your view of the hamster.
This one will give you plenty of space for the hamster to run around, plenty of space for toys and accessories and one simple platform that will allow access to the water bottle and wheel.
Overall I’m pleased with this cage and is one of th best ones I’ve owned. Disappointed with quality of some parts and disappointed of the side frame issue.
I have to mention that the first one was ordered from Amazon and it arrived in a plastic bag with a oversized generic box. It was well packaged, but arrived with plastic frame broken.
I then ordered from PetsAtHome and that came in a Ferplast box, but unfortunately that particular one delivered to me used and already opened, PetsAtHome sent the third one which I am using now, again, no official product box and in a generic box but still arrived scratched although everything in its packaging.
So I’m not sure what is going on with this product and why it doesn’t come in an official box which does exist. Reading other reviews, why is this product not packaged in original manufacturer box? Clearly it is not just amazon stock that has this issue.
Anyway I’m not sure if there is a perfect or even a great hamster cage, this comes close and I would off given it 5 stars if the ladder and other components was of better quality.

Updated: hamster now living happily with huge floor space meaning lots of exercise opportunity and toys. The locking mechanism is secure and the plastic base is deep and detaches for easy cleaning. The deep base means the hamster has lovely deep bedding, loads of toys and even a litter potty that he’s using. The plastic ledge is also easy to clean and in the end I kept the blue plastic house and placed it on there with the food bowl. He loves this house and drags bedding in. The water bottle leaks from the spout a little after use but it’s not excessive. In summary a fantastic cage.
