Absolutely wonderful testimony of securing faith in God, hard work, and relationships. Community interaction and family are essential. Understanding cultural differences is a requirement of a restaurant.

I enjoy the way he relates the story of the family business, and the interaction not just of family, but also employees.

If I ever get a chance, I'm going to visit. It would be an incredible journey to see the business that built a family. People misinterpret private business, saying the family built it, but that isn't the impression of the author. Here, the business has built a family and a community, and the author expresses this well.

I'm now waiting for his second book to arrive.

To think I never would have come across this wonderful little masterpiece had it not been through a friends recommendation. An enjoyable read, it was both uplifting and heartbreaking. In the end, it is a story we can all relate to regardless of our ethnic upbringing. The author literally had me spellbound as I was hardpressed to put this book down!

I picked this book at the Hellenic restaurant (and snack bar) to commemoraterate my first ride on the ferry to Orient Point (and after eating a wonderful meal). I got to meet George. He seems like a genuinely humble and gentle man. I loved the book. It is full of very human stories. I will be back to pick up volume II.

As soon as I bought Mr. Giannaris's book in his restaurant I started reading it and after that I couldn't put it down. I loved it so much that I reread some chapters many times, read excerpts to other people and went around quoting his book everywhere. Even when I went back to his restaurant I decided to order "broiled octopus for breakfast"(in the book :D). It's my favorite book so far. It's filled with great humor and is written in rich language. The book was really enjoyable and simply awesome. The thing is, the language was very good, but it wasn't boring like other authors :D, every word was so natural, it was really smoooooooooooooth and it read like a charm. Thank you for writing a really cool book!

This book is funny, and insightful with a powerfully spiritual message.
Giannaris manages to make you think about life and personal values while chuckling through his experiences helping his father establish a landmark restaurant on Long Island.
I highly recommend it.

George uses great detail in his stories with a bit of humor! I laughed and enjoyed even his dark short stories. As someone who doesn't read much, I enjoyed it very much and finished Ferry Tales with a desire to go to Long Island. So I went and dined at Georges restaurant and toured the area in which his stories took fold. That's how inspiring it was.
