I bought this product to use in conjunction with my CBE digi opk's. I naturally have estrogen in pretty good levels in my body, because I got it partial ferning the day I started using it, and for 3 more days after. I got full ferning (with the most beautiful pattern) 2 days before a + digi. Like other reviewers posted, it takes longer than 5 minutes to dry. I guess it all depends on the sample size you place on the slide. I however would place my sample and get my children off to school. Once they were gone I'd look at it. If you see nothing on the scope then it has nothing to do with the product, it just means your estrogen isn't surging. There is no way to miss a full ferning pattern. It truly takes up the whole slide (if you put a decent sized sample).
I am sorry to read that the scope light isn't replaceable. :/ Guess it comes with the territory. I found that if you take the scope outside and look at in straight on in the sun, you can see your results without using the light. So that should help those that have burnt lights on their scope.
I found the instructions to be quite straight forward. I understood them perfectly. It's just difficult when you are looking for something on the slide that matches with the paper. No two women will have the same ferning pattern. Your ferning pattern is unique to you. If you want to know how full ferning looks, search the net for comparison until you find one that looks like yours. But a tre full ferning can't be missed. When you see the most breath-taking and beautiful design on the slide then you will know without a doubt.
As far as ferning on and on, it's not because of the scope. It's not giving false results. It's just the amount of Estrogen in a womans body that makes it do this. I am still waiting to see nothing on the scope. will keep you posted if I can.
