The first 4 chapters give a lot of background material on the hows and whys of tubal reversal surgery, that really help to understand the procedure and the possible side effects as well as answering the question why anyone would want the surgery.
For me the best chapters where from chapter 5 onwards were every step of your reversal process is covered. There is an in depth section covering what you need to be aware of and what you need to do pre-surgery.
Everything from organizing your initial consult with your surgeon, to what blood tests you will need, as well as factors you should know about that may hinder your healing and make the surgery less than successful. There's even some tips on what to do if you are traveling away from home to get the surgery performed.
All aspects of the surgery are also covered starting from when you arrive at the surgery / clinic to your recovery after the operation.
Surgery is always a bit of a worry and especially so when it's an emotionally charged procedure such as a tubal reversal.
If I was having this procedure done this book would be a great help. Not only does it give excellent background information on tubal reversals it also provides a thorough breakdown of everything you need to know about the procedure that you could easily use as a checklist and covers what you should expect and what you need to do to ensure a quick and successful recovery after surgery.
Additionally there is also a Q&A section that covers some of the commonly asked post surgery questions as well as chapters on the success rates of tubal reversal, and a comparison of tubal reversal and IVF including comparative success rates and cost of the procedures as well as a chapter on the costs involved in a tubal reversal and a variety of ways to help you foot the bill.
The book is nicely laid out and very easy to read, even with all the unpronounceable medical jargon.
I told you it was an "Everything you need to know book"!
