Revolutionizing Joinery and Rethinking Woodworking
Joining has always been a slow, difficult process. The Festool Domino cuts the fat from joinery to let craftsmen make stronger, faster and easier joints. The Domino joiner -- with its revolutionary cutting method -- creates mortises that accept Beech and Sipo tenons (called Dominos). The process is fast, easy and accurate.
The unique tool allows for highly repeatable work -- significantly improving your efficiency and allowing you to do more work in less time.
Quick, precise adjustment for five different mortising depths, relative to the size of the tenon required for the application.
Pivoting Fence for Angled Mortises
Fence creates angled mortises from 0-90 degrees with positive stops at 22.5 degrees, 45 degrees, 67.5 degrees.
Mortise Width Adjustment
Adjusting the width of the mortise allows for easier alignment when joining panels.
Patented Routing Principle
The spiral cutter rotates and oscillates to create perfect mortises.
Why the Domino?
Faster, More Repeatable Work
The Domino streamlines an otherwise tedious process -- allowing you to do more work in less time.

You can make flawless mortises every single time, thanks to Festool's new Domino joining system! Joining no longer has to be a slow, difficult process. The Domino Joiner, with its revolutionary cutting method, utilizes a patented mortising technique, simple indexing features, and adjustable mortise sizing to make flawless mortises. Powerful 420 watt motor drives the cutter spindle at 23,400 RPM.
Precise positioning and accurate mortising with the viewing window. Use 1 of 3 mortise width adjustments for perfectly fitting joints and fast assembly; easy to adjust while the jointer is operating. Cut long mortises in an instant thanks to the simultaneous turning and oscillating movement without kickback. 11/16" dust port extracts up to 95% of chips generated when used in conjunction with any one of Festool's vacuum systems. Retractable stop pins for quick and precise positioning of the initial domino tenon on both work pieces. Five catch positions at 0, 22.5, 45, 67.5, and 90 degrees, as well as infinitely variable mortising angles from 0 to 90 degrees.
Simple, precise mortising fence height adjustment (with scale) offers accurate stops for locating mortising opening in the center of material thicknesses: 16, 20, 22, 25, 28, and 40mm. Quick, precise adjustment for 5 different mortising depths. Robust inner mechanism for consistently accurate routing results. Works on everything from face frames and work pieces as small as 1" x 5/8", to large projects and heavy furniture. Uses pre-fabricated, solid beech domino tenons for superior strength.
From the Manufacturer
Joining has always been a slow, difficult process. Never again, thanks to the Festool Domino joining system. The system consists of the Domino joiner and pre-fabricated, Beech and Sipo Domino tenons. The Domino joiner, with its revolutionary cutting method, simple indexing features and adjustable mortise sizing, makes flawless mortises every single time. The Domino tenon is equally as impressive - it is 100% rotation-proof and far stronger than either biscuits or dowels. It also has a large gluing surface area for extra strength. The unique, patented cutting mechanism consists of a spiral cutter with carbide tip that oscillates as it rotates to create perfect mortises time after time. This action creates a clean entry for a perfectly flush surface while preventing heat build up in the tooling for long cutter life. The Domino joiner is a simple tool to use with angle, depth and height adjustment scales with positive stops for repeated work and accurate indexing. The included stop pins allow for consistent indexing against the workpiece edge which is critical for perfect alignment when joining panels. Create precise, solid joints for your largest or smallest projects. The Domino is portable and ergonomic and lets you take the tool to the work for precise joint placement. The adjustable fence for mitered and beveled joints ranges from 0 to 90º with positive stops at 22.5, 45, 67.5, and 90º. Straightforward adjustments for mortise width and depth, and material height. An available range of tenon sizes and types for maximum joint stability across many different applications. The Domino system is above all economical and efficient. The fast, easy alignment and repeatability of accurate mortises dramatically reduces set-up time and enhances your quality of work. The set version includes additional Festool accessories Trim Stop for registering on narrow pieces and Cross Stop for repeat mortise indexing. Made in Germany.
Top customer reviews
It is simple to use once you have a couple of small things down. At first it was a bit confusing to me until I had done enough that I got the hang of things and I now find it very easy to use. I had a class that has some instruction in it that helped.
I struggled for a long time about whether or not to get this or spring for the larger, much more expensive XL. I am very glad I got the 500. It does everything I need. The XL is really specialized for larger-joint projects. I have made large farm tables with mine and have no problems at all.
Love this tool and would buy it again.
There are many ways to make two pieces of wood stay together, and with $50 worth of hand tools and incredibly perfect technique, you can definitely do without this tool. I bought it because it allows me to be highly accurate, extremely fast, and almost entirely eliminated ruining workpieces and having to spend extra money on more material to start over with parts of projects. I can assemble a project in 1-2 hours with the Domino that would have required I spend 20-30 hours with a mixture of hand tools and power tools to accomplish.
The other thing this saves me is a huge amount of garage space. No need for me to own a bunch of tenon cutting jigs/sleds or a stand mortiser and a plunge router setup just for cutting mortises. I like that a lot.
Avoids ruining workpieces
Helps me save shop space on all of the tools I'd need to use to reproduce the functionality this has
Cost enough to cause marital heartburn
Some people pointed out the high cost of this tool, but that's the deal with Festool. It costs a lot, but saves you time and is high quality. Every other brand of powertool that I own has had quality problems (Bosch, Dewalt, Rigid, etc), and not a single Festool has had an issue even though I use them about 10x more.
The tools are satisfying to use, perform perfectly if you follow their instructions, and save me time. If I were a pro contractor, it would be a no-brainer to invest in these as they would pay off again and again. But even as a DIY-er, I choose festool products because I don't want to waste time, I enjoy using their products, and they help me produce better work.
I would suggest purchasing the accessory kit with the cutters and dominos because the system only comes with the 5 mm cutter and that is all.
You could argue that for the price (plus the domino's!) it should be able to build a project without you even touching it. But if you can justify the cost (specially now with the 10% off), I would say definitely go for it, you will not be sorry.
