*Have you ever wondered how Taylor and Baldwin had gotten together? Well, if you're a fan of J.T. Ellison' s favorite characters and love all the Taylor Jackson novels, then you don't want to miss out on this one. It'a a must read....Known to having the best homicide team known as the "murder squad",lieutenant Taylor Jackson was about to discover that all of Nashville could possibly have a serial killer on the loose. While struggling with demons and nightmares from a traumatic incident only three months earlier, Taylor tried to hide her feelings and mounting anxietities from her fellow detectives including her best friend, M.E. Dr. Samantha Owens while they investigated the gruesome murders. Shunned by fellow officers for her involvement in a past case, Taylor was speechless the minute she first met a certain agent from the Bureau. With his mind made up about leaving the FBI, Dr. John Baldwin was not only conflicted with guilt over his last case in which circumstances led to the deaths of fellow agents, he couldn't help being consumed with anger and overwhelming hostility,he reached the point where he wanted to leave his life's work permanently. After taking a leave of absence and residing in his hometown of Nashville, Baldwin reluctantly agreed to assist with the investigation to aid the Nashville police dept. but the moment he and Taylor first locked eyes, there was not only a spontaneous connection they both felt but a overpowering attraction for the other. Putting all their feelings aside, they continued to work the case together and as the clues mounted up, the profiler in Baldwin resurfaced. The evidence was pointing to a killer who was trying to create a future apocolypse by leaving damaging clues and committing more murders. As Taylor and Baldwin's working relationship becomes more personal, they along with Dr. Sam Owens and Taylor's homicide team race against the clock to prevent a madman from committing anymore carnage but when the investigation almost comes an end, Taylor and Baldwin are not only forced to confront their fears and demons but most importantly, the shocking revelations nearly threatens Taylor's own life!..Excellent read and will have you gripping the edge of your seat to the very end..thank you..

I have read and throughly enjoyed the Taylor Jackson series many times. It’s one of my favorite suspense series.
Field of Graves is the eighth published novel in the Taylor Jackson series, but it is actually a prequel to the earlier books.
I loved seeing the beginning of some of my favorite characters. Taylor, the Nashville lieutenant. Baldwin the FBI agent. Sam the ME. And Taylor’s team, Fitz, Lincoln and Marcus.
The book opens with Taylor dealing with an intruder in her home. She shoots the man, and discovers it was a fellow detective. Months later she is still dealing with how this affected her. She’s not sleeping, barely eating. But putting on a good front for her team.
Baldwin is on a sabbatical from the FBI following his own shootout with a bad guy. But in his, three of his own agents were killed. He has sunk into a deep dark place.
Both Taylor and Baldwin are dealing with tremendous guilt over the deaths.
It’s only when his boss calls in a favor to her boss, that puts these two together, do they both start to heal.
It was filled with plenty of action, suspense, mystery and a tiny bit of romance thrown in for good measure.
It’s well written and held my attention throughout.
I’m hoping for more books in this series. I really do love these stories and these characters.

A little over six months ago I discovered the Samantha Owens series and gobbled them up, one immediately after the other and from there read the Taylor Jackson Series back to back. After finishing the last book (Where All The Dead Lie) I found out that J.T. Ellison was taking a break from the series. While I was disappointed, I loved her stand alone novel "No One Knows"!
Now, thank goodness, J.T. has returned to the series with a prequel which provides the back stories for most of the characters (certainly Taylor, John Baldwin and to some extent Sam) including members of Taylor's murder team. I am hoping that this means there will be more novels set after "Where All The Dead Lie"
Field of Graves was an exciting, well paced, fast read full of twists and turns as well full of fascinating forensic details. Overall this book is not as well polished as her later novels in the series. I was really surprised to read that publishers passed this one up! While not as gut wrenching as the first book in the series ("All The Pretty Girls") , it is still exciting and provides such a strong introduction to the primary and secondary characters who are all humanly flawed, quirky and so very relatable. The author provided an outstanding depiction of someone suffering from severe panic attacks and nightmares due to PTSD as well as of a person suffering from severe depression due to overwhelming guilt. I rated this 4.5. If this is your first Taylor Jackson, J.T. Ellison read do yourself a special kindness and start reading all of the Taylor Jackson and Samantha Owens series but read them in order. Enjoy yourself, you deserve it.
As a confirmed, solid Taylor Jackson and Samantha Owens fan, I am so looking froward to seeing where J.T. Ellison will take us next!

Taylor Jackson of the Metro Nashville Police Department needs to be at the top of her game when the body of a young woman is found posed in a public park. Ignoring the nightmares lingering from a previous case, she pushes forward with her team. Only to have a second body surface.
Dr. John Baldwin, on sabbatical from the FBI, is fighting his own demons. He has decided to play a deadly game with his own rules to end it all. Then he’s coerced to consult on the potential serial killer.
This thriller with just a touch of romance, makes excellence use of the setting and a large cast of interesting characters. Plenty of twists and a mastery of the hook. I’ll be looking for previous volumes in this series.

In my view, this is her best novel so far.

Being a prequel I wasn’t sure I would like Taylor Jackson’s latest novel of the series. However it revealed how certain characters came to be, and introduced some evil characters. I finished the book in record time!

She's done it again, I really loved going back to the start when Taylor, Sam and Baldwin are all together again.
I just hope that there will be more stories to follow on from this one to Pretty Girls. This was so much better than her last stand alone novel.
