-- "Library Journal (starred review)""Regan lets the reader into her reality, exposing the messiness, beauty, and inescapable connection to the good, the bad, and the ugly that exists in food."
-- "Booklist""Regan's lyrical prose evokes the natural world...Readers will be moved."
-- "Publishers Weekly""This second memoir [is] as rich as a mushroom ragout."
-- "Los Angeles Times""Touching and funny, Fieldwork explores gender identity, farm life, and Regan's fascinating family heritage...This candid feast of a book delighted both our hearts and our stomachs."

Every so often, I would be reading along and encounter the last sentence of a paragraph that was so profound that I had to reread and savor the whole paragraph again. I miscalculated the number of pages in the book. So when I got to the last page, I had a pity party because I thought I had at least five more to read. You know you're reading good writing when you have to stop and ponder what you've read, reread passages, and grieve the end of a book.
I would love to read her anecdotes after she has had some shamanic journeying experiences, especially in the Upper Peninsula. Hoo Boy! THAT will be some great writing. Lanie, Gurl, you hear me?
