This was an interesting take on vampires. I’ve read a lot of vampire books and it was refreshing that the vampires in this story were not sexy, they didn’t even pretend to be. They were monsters and it was up to a small task force, headed by Brooke, to figure out how to stop the massacre. The plot moves at a fast pace, with a lot of action. I also found the characters engaging, especially Sam, who felt the most well-rounded, perhaps because he goes through a lot as the events unfold. I also really enjoyed the parts with Edgar closer to the end.
