Review

Fierce Loyalty shows every business how to find the holy grail of building a raving community of customers.”
~ Barry Moltz, Small Business Speaker and Author

“Fierce Loyalty is one of the most unique advantages a business can have today. However, building a fiercely loyal community can be a painstaking process. Sarah Robinson does a masterful job in explaining how and how not to convert customers into advocates for your brand. Fierce Loyalty is must read material for entrepreneurs and brand builders in every-sized company.”
~ Brian Moran, CEO⁄Managing Partner Brian Moran & Associates

“Having followed and read Sarah Robinson for several years now, there is no better person to write Fierce Loyalty. Not only does she teach you how to build community, she provides you with return-on-investment in five easy steps, along with case studies to help you envision success. But it isn't just about how to build an engaged community. It's about how to create fierce loyalty by unlocking the DNA of the groups of people you want to reach. With exercises, questions, and easy ways to build your framework (provided you do the homework), Robinson provides you the exact structure to build your own fiercely loyal community.”
~ Gini Dietrich, Chief Executive Officer, Arment Dietrich and Co-author, Marketing in the Round

“I was a skeptic when I picked up a copy of Fierce Loyalty. I didn't think there was a way to actually PLAN for a fiercely loyal community to be part of my business. I couldn't have been more wrong. Not only can it be planned for, it can be REPEATED just by using the framework that Sarah Robinson spent years perfecting! Fierce Loyalty is a must read for every business owner whose business can benefit from a loyal customer base.”
~ Sean McGinnis, Founder, 312Digital.com

“The new digital age is fierce. This book is fierce. Sarah Robinson is fierce. Customer loyalty has never been more important than now. The digital age has forever changed the way people buy, sell, and talk about brands. It is time for you to become fierce.”
~ Kyle Lacy, Author of Twitter Marketing for Dummies and Branding Yourself

“It's easy enough to be a cynic these days in business, given the nature of consumer disloyalty, pricing schemes that undermine real value and the seemingly prevalent uncaring attitude of most businesses or that everybody's now an expert on your business. But Sarah Robinson's new book Fierce Loyalty provides a real, practical and extremely powerful foundation for understanding how to create a loyal, valuable community for those who get the power and impact they provide.”

I wanted the recipe for the secret sauce that makes communities thrive. I wanted something to help demystify the concept of community. How do communities form? Why do people join communities? Why are some communities wildly successful while others struggle or even die? Sarah has figured out the model and shares the recipe for creating fiercely loyal communities. I have been watching her do it for the past two years - and few people do it better. The model is clear, understandable, and actionable. No doubt community building is a hot topic these days. This book will give you the tools you need to build yours.

Community-building is a huge topic today's social media-obsessed world where people are increasingly physically alienated but craving relationships. As one who has worked to develop a sense of community in the various military units and civilian workplaces I have been a part of over the last 15 years, I have read widely on what it takes to ignite and nurture this often-elusive, passionate sense of loyalty. In light of my experience, let me say this:

Sarah Robinson 'gets' community, and in her new book Fierce Loyalty she shares what it takes to create it.

Since Sarah was kind enough to provide me with an advance copy last week, I have read and re-read Fierce Loyalty: Unlocking the DNA of Wildly Successful Communities. The "Fierce Loyalty Model" she proposes contains five building blocks that are both simple and essential for creating community. Through the lenses of her model, I can look back and see those facets I have neglected or omitted in the past as well as areas I want to work on in my current workplace.

The examples in Fierce Loyalty are primarily taken from traditional for-profit businesses, but Sarah's model has been consistently proven in her experiences with other organizations. These building blocks are perfectly applicable to non-profits, churches, small groups, military units, online communities and divisions/branches/sub-groups of any larger organization.

I received an advance review copy of Fierce Loyalty, and was worried that it was going to be too short to be any good.

I was wrong. Dead wrong. At just under 100 pages, Robinson's book is a quick read, with just the right mix of case studies and how-to to keep anyone engaged. If you are a researcher/thinker type, there's plenty of real-life examples to read through and explore. If you're a "get-it-done" type, like me, you'll find plenty of bite-sized, hands on tips and suggestions to keep you moving forward toward building your fiercely loyal community. It's well-written (anyone can read this and walk away with actionable items), and it's general enough that any size or type of organization can benefit from Robinson's work.

I've known Sarah for a few years, and community building is truly her genius work. I don't think she realized it until she started writing this book. This is the book I've been waiting for her to write, and I'm thrilled that she finally did. Her diagrams and "DNA" concept are easy to grasp, and make this a great book for anyone serious about building a loyal following for their product, service, mission, or vision for the world.

One of the most useful business books I've read recently--even though it's not meant necessarily for businesses. It's geared towards any community you're in, you're the center of, you're in charge of, or that you want to create.
Around your business, or around your book, around your blog, around your pet project, or around your neighborhood--community makes all the difference.
It's been a buzzword in marketing now for a while, but it was not clear how you can make community happen.
Sarah Robinson shows us a process that can be planned and measured, instead of something you hope for.

For my business it's vital information that I'm very grateful for. It's a good, fast read, too!

If you think you already have a great community, this book will show you why--and it will show you the areas you can still improve.

If you have no idea how "community" can help designing, improving, releasing and promoting your product, it's a must read.

Sarah has assembled a concise foundational book which presents a solid framework to support her empirical work on just what it takes to build a fiercely loyal community.

Many technologists have seen community form around technical change waves (remember warchalking in the early days of wifi or animal farm for ISP providers) but most of the time we just assume it happens out of the ether. Sarah has put community formation into a framework that is understandable, scalable and repeatable.

If you are an innovation leader or a market professional looking for a useable set of tools to set a community in motion, this book is also for you. There are case studies and solid examples of the principles in application. Sarah has drawn examples from public and private companies, both for profit and not for profits to punctuate her examples.

So, if your great work depends on building both external and internal community for your work, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of the book.

I was privileged to receive an advance copy.
