A great stand-alone novel, this instalment also connects all 12 of the previous books in the series, brining an even deeper richness to key characters as the Four Horsemen Universe continues to grow.
Old friends are reunited while new alliances are forged. Strap in for more adventure, betrayal, and 'dare to be great' moments as the resistance begins the fight to take Earth back from the powerful Mercenary Guild.
This book (and series) is a must read for anyone who enjoys a good military Sci-Fi story.
In the words of Australian icon Molly Meldrum, ‘do yourself a favour' and get your hands on a copy.
The previous books have covered the attempts to destroy each of the 4 Horsemen, which failed. The alien conspiracy then ups the ante, and takes over Earth. The 4 horsemen flee, and gather forces to help retake Earth.
Sounds like a pretty hopeless fight? This book shows why it’s not. The book includes the death of a main supporting character, betrayal, spying, and hope. As well as giant Mecha, a hyperspace sargasso full of space ships, a galactic trial and lots of fast paced twists and turns. Very well written, and not where I expected the story to go. I appreciate a lot of plot threads in previous books got answered.
The book starts out a bit slow, with a flight through hyperspace on a space ship falling apart in danger of never exiting hyperspace, and dramatically speeds up from there. The betrayal was heart breaking, as was the death of a 2nd tier character.
You don’t need to have read any of the other stories first. One of the authors wrote in the online community, he prefers to show, not tell. I do highly recommend reading the other books in the series, the books universe is consistent with an overall story ARC, and they are a fun read.
Disclaimer - the authors do have an online community and are very active in it. I submitted my name as a red shirt, and they even spelled my name right in the book! My first time ever being red shirted! I’m not sure how I will explain to my wife how this is a good thing... Red shirt is a slang term referring from the original Star Trek, where security wore red shirts, and a lot died.
However, they may not understand humanity quite as well as they think they do.
Things may not be going quite as smoothly as they would like to believe.
