About the Author
Christopher E. Wade has been creating artwork since he was a small boy in the Panhandle of Florida. He has attended art fairs in Florida and sold his unique works of art to collectors. His bright and colorful images are created with a pointillism technique utilizing watercolors and black ink. The black backgrounds make a strong contrast to his brilliant illustrations. Christopher keeps God at the center of his artwork while getting inspiration from nature, and his many years of scuba diving. Much of his artwork features wildlife. Christopher currently lives in Colorado with his wife and two young daughters. You can visit his website at www.cewade.com

This is a gorgeous book with a bold message. On the fifth day God created sea creatures. It is one in what is going to be a series for each day that God created.
Chris Wade uses a combination of watercolor and pointillism to illustrate his sea creatures. He also uses a one word description for each. Therefore a Blue whale is "Big"; a Coelacinth is "Fancy" a Sea Horse is "unique" and so on.
The simple one word descriptions are appropriate for young years but the lovely, sophisticated illustrations are for everyone with an eye for beauty.
With only one word used to describe each sea creature, this book lets the illustrations do most of the talking. Each page uses a black background to spotlight a beautifully and intricately illustrated sea creature. This simple background and one word are a perfect companion to each creature because they allow the illustrations to shine even more.
I especially appreciate that several of the creatures featured in this book don't typically show up in picture books. This allows young readers to fully appreciate just how remarkable the fifth day of creation actually was by getting a glimpse at some of the more unique creatures!
This is a book I'm happy to share with my kids and to recommend to other parents.
*Note: I was given a complimentary copy of this book for review.
The simplicity of the book was wonderful. The single words were unique and thought provoking. This made for a few nice added vocabulary words in our case.
The names of the animals were a nice addition, as well. And I even learned an animal or two. My son was able to start adding the names while we read it a third time. As a homeschool mom this is perfect.
I'm also exited that I can get my older children involved and we can do research on each animal. Maybe we'll find out some interesting facts.
