And any man who comes to the aid to rescue a turtle in the middle of the road - sigh!! The premise is that Vivian is unlucky in love (see the lost her boyfriend part - not a fan of his!) and her aunt suggests that she needs to kiss fifty frogs (well the number isn't important) before she can find her prince.
What Vivian doesn't realize is that she really found him before she started kissing any frogs - and let's be honest - most of them were toads!!
So many favorite parts of the book - discussion of DC vs. Marvel - very important topic to discuss; "tit for tat" - oh I enjoyed that scene and here's a swoony moment..."It could be that neither of us are perfect, but together we could be pretty...amazing." Oh my - how could you not fall head over heels.
Of course - there will be a bump in the road as Vivian should have come clean about a few things, but overall - this book has so much heart and nice heat. It gives you all the feels and reminds you what it was like when you fell in love with "the one".
Tawdra Kandle is one of my favorite authors - if you haven't met her yet - this is a good book to start.
Poor Vivian. She left for her temporary reporting assignment with a rewarding job that she loved and a guy that could have possibly been the one (if she was willing to settle for stability over spark). When she returned home, she was pretty much homeless and jobless, and to make matters worse, the guy she could settle for was no longer willing to settle for her! Following some sage advice, she decided to explore the concept of having to kiss a lot of frogs to find her prince.
She meets exactly who you’d expect she would when she dives back into the dating scene – clingy, weird, aggressive, etc. Every woman has these stories, which is what would make Vivian’s article so likely to be picked up. As usual, it’s the guys that you never think of that end up being “the one.” In this case, we were introduced to a yummy dream man on Vivian’s way to reaching her goal of kissing fifty frogs.
This was an adorable story that really kept me entertained from start to finish. If you’re looking for a super fun and relatable book for a nice hot summer night, this is definitely worth it.
And Charlie, I just love him. I love how both he and Vivian find they are both in very similar situations; living arrangements, employment, and dating life. It was such a joy to watch them fall for one another in the midst of everything. So, so cute!!
I really had a hard time putting this book down. I would constantly wonder what crazy scenario and/or crazy guy Vivian would find next. I looked forward to it and the silliness that would surely ensue.
Fun plot, hilarious dating hijinks, and one adorable meet cute… FIFTY FROGS was such a good read. If you are looking for your next beach read or late night read, I think you may have just found it. 4 Stars!
When Vivian returns from her 3 months of riding the train around the US, she is totally caught off guard by what has happened during her absence. She looses her boyfriend, her place to live and her job. But since she is a journalist, she decides to freelance and to write a story about dating. She ends up living with her Aunt -- and she tells her that to find her prince, she needs to kiss fifty frogs. And so this story really begins - - - but you are going to have to read it for yourself to see exactly how it plays out. I will warn you, once you start reading - you are not going to want to stop until you reach the ending. And YES - it is that good!!!
Can't wait for the next book in this series!!!
