I received a copy of Fifty Three by Rosanita Ratcliff in exchange for an honest review.

Jelynda's life has not always gone as planned. Born with congestive heart failure, she's had to go through a few surgeries and because of her health and her fear of the unknown future, she's always held her feelings close to her heart. She's got a supportive close circle of friends and a great family but after her last boyfriend left her immediately following her last surgery, she hasn't tried to get close to anyone else since.

I did enjoy the story. But I think it could use some more editing. Some of the conversations were a little confusing because they were just paragraphs of full conversations and I had to reread a few of them to try to figure out which character was saying which lines. And while the book is mostly written in the past tense, too many times it would revert to the present. It didn't detract from the story itself, but it was distracting to the flow of the story.

Okay let's start on why the name Fifty Three ? When I started the book I was wondering why this title. Finished the book and still cannot figure out why. The plot of the book starts out very slow. You just have yo keep reading. I love the way the author started the love between Jelynd and Samuel . Also I love the close friends . All in all a good read. Also this boom will open your eyes to life changes and who are your good friends.

At first I didn't think I would finish this book because of the very slow start and the numerous tense errors and misspellings....but suddenly it became a really good story with nicely fleshed out characters! There were parts that moved me to tears...would definitely recommend reading this story!

This book was so boring and uninteresting, I actually picked it up and put it down, several times before giving up on reading it completely. I did not find anything about it pleasurable, and found the writing listless and uninspired.

I laughed, I cried, I got angry, I cheered, so many emotions as I read this book.
The main female character's name is Jalynda and this is her story. This is a story of courage, faith, tenacity and most of all unconditional love. I was humbled by the characters in this story. Granted it is fiction but what if we had a group of friends like this in our lives. Just imagine! This reads like the author's own life story...mmmm!
Ms. Ratcliff, I truly hope there are followup stories for Jalynda's friends especially Frankie.

Ms. Ratcliff presents a very insightful and endearing character in Jelynda. Her life after college , work experiences and meaningful, heart- felt connections to others , the fullness of those relationships give the character and the story just the kind of meat, for which, readers hunger. She not only introduces the other Dashers , but gives them individual personalities and lives that make readers want ot get to know them all better. The importance of their friendship is infused through out the novel. For young adults, who are experiencing the wide world for the first time, many trials can overwhelm them. The fact that the main character has a very serious and chronic medical condition adds strength, compassion and respect for the courage she shows , along with her capacity to give to others and accept their help . I hope readers will gain insiration and courage from this story.

I was truly surprised by this book. This is a new author for me and after downloading the sample it took me awhile to actually read it but once I did I couldn't help but to buy to the book. His was a very sweet romance and the hero and heroine were perfect even thought they had to struggle to get there. You really won't be disappointed when you purchase this one. I can't wait to read about the rest of the friends.

This book was slow to start then finally got interesting when Frankie came back in to Jelynda' s life. Jelynda has job troubles and a heart defect. Luckily her old college friends come back into HER life to help her deal with things. I wish Samuel and Jelynda' s romance was more passionate. They just kind of end up together. CAUTION several secondary characters die in this book and it is pretty sad. Don't read if your depressed.
