I'm not sure where to begin. Is it perhaps the irony of buying a consumer product that speaks to the ills of consumerism? Yet I see in Fight Club the greatest gift to society. I see in it the solution to the world's present state of permanent adolescence.

Never before has a generation so diligently recorded themselves accomplishing so little. Society has us chasing 'likes' and 'shares' so we can feel more important than we are. We're posting photos of our food as if what we had for dinner defines us a person. We treat elections like reality TV shows. We're paying for higher education in order to get jobs that pay for our higher education. We believe we are all going to be social media stars and movie gods. But we won't. What we think is anti-establishment is establishment. We've become the thing that we stood against.

All this potential, being squandered. I'm thinking Fight Club is what we really need. If you open your mind and let go, it will change your life. It will have you sizing people up. You'll start wearing more red. You'll look at ads and start asking "why?" You'll get in better shape, not for others, but for yourself. You'll realize a controlling woman is the last thing you need in your life. You'll appreciate soap. You'll laugh at others trying to get the perfect selfie. You'll start thinking for yourself.

Perfect example of the racial and socioeconomic majority creating problems because they have none otherwise out of boredom to give their life meaning. The entire time watching I was thinking, "Wouldn't it be nice to have so few problems I had to create some."

I waited a while to finally see this movie after going through a list of "Top Twist Ending Movies" that I downloaded and planned to watch later. First, this was not what I consider to be a "twist". The movie was written so poorly, that if you have plain common sense, it's not hard to figure everything out 10 -15 minutes in. After the Narrator he mentions he suffers of insomnia, you already know that this movie happens entirely in his imagination. Yes...spoiler, because if you haven't seen this, don't waste your time...you won't miss much.

I also did not like the movie set where all of the scenes took place. Actually there was no set. Everything was done in a very low budget-y "we-have-no-money-to-build-a-set-so-let's-just-use-an-old-abandoned-crack-house-for-free" kind of way. Looks like it was filmed in one spot where you were constantly being "walked" around corners from room to room. Very closed in. Maybe they were trying to drive home the fact that the entire movie took place in ones head IDK. Either way, they didn't invest much.

Acting was poor, it should have done without the Narration - which I hate because it tends to be insulting...it's like having someone read to you when the agenda or notes are right there in front of you on a piece of paper. (Please don't read an ENTIRE script to the audience...that's worse than Closed Captioning.)

Some parts were just thrown in "just because" but had no real point other than to be grotesque. (Like Brad Pitt urinating in the food.) Good actors don't need to rely on gotcha moments, just to get a point across about the character's personality traits. Their acting is convincing enough to show through. The guy with the breasts...Audience didn't need an extreme and unrealistic physical trait to convince people that he was depressed. The actor should have been able to convey this part of his personality in his acting. He wasn't.

Much of what happens in this movie is very unrealistic, such that it should have been in the genre for Fantasy instead of Drama or Thriller. If you like confusing movies that border on becoming silly and ridiculous midway through, (like "Get Out"), then go for it. Otherwise, this is more appropriate for cult followers who will watch and like it for no apparent reason other than it being a fad or because Brad Pitt's name is associated with it.

Movie was was such a fail, I don't even want to waste more time typing about it. I wish I could get a refund or unsee it. Yes, it was THAT bad.

I had NO idea about the whole, you know...Don't worry, I know the three rules!
So, I finally watched it with a friend I had been saying a million times, "You gotta watch this movie, you gotta watch this movie!" And, my 18 year old son watched it with us. Well, my son had "it" (don't worry, I know the rules), figured out midway through. HUH!?!! He liked it okay. My friend didn't particularly like it, but what does he know. Yet, I do admit, the 2nd time around, it didn't deliver the same punch for me, no pun intended,

Chances are, if you’ve watched any popular movie over the last fifteen years or so, you’ve probably heard the line, ‘The first rule of *whatever* is do not talk about *whatever.*’ This is of course the most famous line from the Brad Pitt/Edward Norton 1999 classic, ‘Fight Club.’ In a nutshell, Fight Club is so good it’s spawned many parodies and rip-offs, none of which have even come close to emulating just how good it is.

I’ll give you a brief plot synopsis, but leave it there, as if I go into too much detail, I start running the risk of letting slip some major spoilers. Edward Norton plays a bored and run-down salesman who spends his days flying across America selling his wares. However, his dull life takes a turn for the interesting when he happens to bump into Tyler Durden (or rather Brad Pitt) on a plane. The two of them form an unlikely bond and come up with a novel way of dealing with male stress in the modern age – they beat the hell out of each other for fun. And, believe it or not, this idea soon spreads across the nation and ‘Fight Clubs’ start springing up everywhere.

It’s about now in the review where I list the good and bad points of the film. However, I can’t actually think of anything negative to say about Fight Club and, if I listed all its plus points then I’d probably be here all day. There’s very little wrong with this film in general – it has everything from great central performances from Pitt, Norton and Helena Bonham Carter (and even a sterling performance from Meat Loaf – who’d have thought!) to wry social commentary, snappy dialogue and those plot points I refuse to mention for fear of being hounded off the internet for spoiling movies.

As I’ve already eluded to, there’s definitely more to it than the synopsis, but anything more may ruin the surprises in store. Whether you like dark, intelligent thrillers or just want to see Brad Pitt topless, you really should check this film out at some stage. It’s already a classic and, even after all these years, holds up very well with its themes of fragile male ego, bonding and the establishment in general.

When I watched it last I felt it had an almost ‘Hitchcock-vibe’ to it all, which would explain why it all feels so dark and timeless. If you haven’t seen it, don’t ask people about it, as they may well give away bits of it that will stay with you forever. Just watch it. Then re-watch it again with a completely different view of it all when you know what it’s really about.

Make no mistake, this is a highly intelligent film with great acting and great camera work. Helena Bonham-Carter demonstrates she's got a life outside Merchant Ivory. My only problem was that the film made me uncomfortable, and there were moments of violence that made me want to retch. Perhaps it was a reminder that I'm a middle of the road, comfortable, conventional consumer - the sort of person who needs to be transformed into a real human being by joining a Fight Club. I didn't really enjoy this film, although it held my attention until the end (which I confess I didn't fully understand).

i wrote a review about this movie before! but since i quoted a line from the movie which had a naughty word in it it was not published ... lol!
for me one line from the movie sums it all up "too much testosterone gives you b***h t*ts! lol
they movie sticks quite close to the book from which it is based on which is quite rare. also does not use hardly any cgi grahics... if any... which is quite rare!
as much as i hate bradpitt he plays a great tyler durden! and his view of a chaotic world is quite intruiging!
overall its a great movie and quite brutal at times and messes with your head alot! but thats just the way the book was as well. great movie with a great cast! edward norton was made for this part

Fight Club is quite possibly the boldest statement of today’s society. One cannot ignore Pitt’s exceptional performance as Tyler, a man who lives the dream that is, everyday life. The main narrator (Ed Norton) plays an insomniac office worker looking to change his average everyday life. He meets Marla (Helena), another ‘faker’ at the various groups he has been attending. Then, as paths collide, ‘mayhem’ breaks lose. You cannot help but assess your own life and wonder; do I marvel to these aspects of life? I still carry the messages forwarded from this movie throughout my life. Excellence worth buying.
