The Fighter is another fabulous “shifter” story from Reina Torres. Confirmed bachelor Cage Gamble is woefully unprepared when he is suddenly thrust into the roll of foster father to a moody teenage shifter, but lucky for him, Maggie Fordice is willing to help him navigate the pitfalls of becoming a father. Although becoming an insta-parent wasn't something that Cage was prepared for, watching him slowly start to figure out not only how to deal with Frances but with his own feelings for her was nothing short of swoon-worthy. Maggie played a big part of that, and I really adored the way that she identified with Frances and helped her along. I also really enjoyed the fact that some characters from Ms. Torres' previous shifter books played a part in this one. You do not have to be familiar with them in order to appreciate their parts in this book, but if you are, those cameos will be extra special.
If you're looking for a sweet and sexy read with a dash of mystery and great characters, I would highly recommend this book.
Book is packed with character growth. Maggie has turned her rebellious life around, has returned to town, now owns the diner and is a somewhat teen-whisperer. Cage has to adapt from bachelor life to parenthood and is learning to be a good father to his friend’s moody teenager, Frances. After losing her parents, rebellious Frances is learning that there are still people out there that care about her and can help her with her shifter life. The Fighter is a steamy read with a smoking hot romance, a well-done shifter transformation during an electrified fight scene at the club and an action-packed chase scene. There’s a connection happening between Frances and Cobb that I’m hoping will be explored in later books (they’re teens, so…) I also enjoyed appearance from characters from former books. An engaging read from Reina Torres!
Gabe is a ex military turned fighter who has been given the privilege to raise his best friends teenage daughter when her parents are killed. Frances feels no one wants her and so she acts out trying to figure where she fits in but she learns Gabe does want her and to help her see this is Gabe's former Colonel's daughter Maggie. Maggie was once a troubles youth after her mother leaves and she is left along while her father is on missions. Maggie is grown up now and has always had a crush on Gabe. When Frances' family comes after her there is trouble. Will Maggie and Gabe be able to show her that they are all a family? Will Gabe be able to make Maggie his mate? A must read. Worthwhile.
Cage Gamble is a strong, charming and determined business man and fighter. However he is so not prepared to be a instant father to a moody teenage lioness. Maggie Fordice is a former moody and rebellious teen herself (a teen-whisperer) lives close by and is what he needs in so many ways. Frances is just trying to find her way in a new world and so unsure of how to fit in to Sylvan City. Loved this heartwarming and exciting adventure.
