I watch it with my mother. The plot is tense. A story with happy ending. I don't know what other people think, but I think it's a good movie. The overall effect of the film is not bad. The actor's performance was animated and devoted.
I saw this movie at the premiere in Ocean Springs a few months ago. Good premise for a story ruined by horrible lighting, and horrible sound, and disjointed editing along with a heavy rap soundtrack that is totally out of place with this type of movie. The only reason this doesn't get one star is because Jessica Harthcock is so good, that she carries the whole film on her shoulders. Don't be fooled by the 9.6 rating on IMDB; that's obviously padded reviews from family and friends, and people who worked on the film.
Fighting Belle was originally a written as a screenplay, but local MS director Sean Riley decided he wanted to make a film out of it. Fighting Belle had an Indiegogo account to receive funding for the film. Overall, the movie did not have a budget to make a professional quality film. I did not personally work on the film however, one of my songs is in the soundtrack and is not a heavy rap song as stated in the two star review on this page. The film as a whole had a good storyline and local actors that helped make the story come to life. I do agree that there were lighting and sound issues, but this is a LOCAL film. This is not a million dollar budget film, they only had a certain amount of funding, and I believe they did a good job having the equipment they had. I did see the film at the Premiere in Ocean Springs in March. This was the first premiere of the movie and I agree there were flaws, but there was another showing of the film two months later in May. I attended this showing and noticed less issues. I also know that the crew worked hard over those two months to fix as many problems as they could. I believe the production crew will continue to work on the film even though it is available on Amazon. I enjoyed the film even though there were issues, and I hope that there will be more opportunities for local movies to be filmed in Mississippi.
I love southern based romantic comedies. This one fit the bill. I thought the storyline, actors, scenery, and music were all on point. The interaction with all of the characters, The attractiveness of the actors, and the cheer worthy storyline made this film one that I'd easily watch again.
