With a mixture of Irish lingo and a setting made for love to blossom, Rory and Brittany cross paths at a pivotal moment in their lives. Neither is where they thought they would be and both looking for something to go their way. Without me realizing, I was cheering them on heartily and inwardly shouting at Brittany to wake up to Rory! I think Brittany’s blindness to the obvious reality got to me a little. I kept on saying damn girl look at those green eyes! Coupled with drama and intrigue, I spent my flight coming home reading this book from start to finish and even the sneak peek. I really loved Rory and Britt’s HEA; they both deserved a good turn. Now bring on Tierney’s story cause I have a feeling this series goodness has only just begun!
As adults, Ian has chosen a dark path and is in trouble. His sister has finished school and has a dependable job running a center in the neighborhood of their summer camp. The strong, take no prisoners, mother has suffered a stroke. Someone needs to come back to the camp and take over its operation. Ian cannot be depended on, Tierney cannot face the social part of the job and she loves where she is working. That only leaves the good son. Rory puts all his plans and dreams on hold and he goes back to run the camp.
One of the young girls at the camp caught his eye but he wasn't allowed to speak to her so he just dreamed of her from afar. Besides, she was very wealthy and there wasn't much chance she would be interested in the camp owner's son. But, it has been over 10 years and a lot has changed. They meet as adults when Britt wants to book the camp for her destination wedding. He is beyond happy to see her again but it breaks his heart that she is engaged to another man.
This is a really, really good story. It holds the attention from the first word to the last. The hero is a great guy, loving, caring, smart, and gorgeous. The heroine is a beauty in her own right. She is smart, loving, and just wants to marry and have a family of her own. Things do not seem to be working out for her but with all bad things, there comes good. Their story is a very good one. I really enjoyed it and found it to be very entertaining. I definitely recommend it. It was a bit steamy but not overly done. It is a very good read. Great romance and great story.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 3/2/18
Katy Regnery has once again amazed me with her story telling! I am looking forward to reading more from this new series.
Rory was a boy who worked at Summerhaven. The son of the help. Always there to work but not to fraternize. My heart went out to Rory right away. A teen stuck in tradition but wanting to spread his wings and explore more. Too bad he wasn’t a rule breaker like his brother. But he wasn’t and doing the right thing was who he was. Britt was a camper at Summerhaven. She had her eye on Rory but he never gave her the time of day. They were like to satellites rotating around each other.
Fast forward and Rory, now an adult, is obligated once again to work at Summerhaven. Things were looking up when a bride calls to make Summerhaven her potential wedding venue. Too bad it was the one and only Brittany.
These two drove me nuts but made me happy. The pace of the story was perfect. It made me sigh with happiness when it all came together. Such a terrific story.
This is Book one of three. I can’t wait for Book two. I have to know what Tierney’s story is. I’m chomping at the bit for that one. Gah!! Such a great beginning to a series. Thanks Katy for sharing your gift of story telling with us.
