Okay so let me start off saying I have never written a review before, so bare with me here while I try to sort out the massive amount of thoughts running through my head about this book!

First of all, I was scrolling through books trying to find something to keep my attention for the next few days, and I saw this cover. Wowza, HOT HOT HOT!! I read the summary and it looked interesting so I went ahead and purchased it. Needless to say I didn't need a few days to read about Jaxson and Jules because I had to finish it same day! I was up into the middle of the night laughing and sighing, completely LOVING this story!

Jaxson is the definition of an alpha male! He is sexy and hot and adorable and even sweet, in that honest, raw, bad boy way of his! Lets just say he had me fanning myself more than once! He even made possessive look good, and that is no easy feat!

Onto Julia, wow I loved having a strong, stubborn female lead! No doormat here! Standing applause to the author for that one! She is smart, and has opinions and is incredibly forgiving, but it has to be earned, Sheesh I just loved her!

I won't describe the story for you because that is what the Summary is for, but let me just tell you... This was such an incredible book. It had humor, and hotness, and suspense, and oh yeah, HOTNESS!! After I finished this book I had tears running down my face from laughter, and was so excited to see that there will be more too this series! However, and this is a big however, THERE WAS NO CLIFFHANGER!!!! Woo hoo, so nice to see! Yes this is a series but the next book will be about other characters that were featured in this one, and I can not wait!! The secondary characters were written just as well as the main characters and they were all amazing!

I really hope K.C. Lynn has no life because I am anxiously awaiting my Sawyer fix!

The only reason this book is getting a one star is 1. You can't go any lower and 2. The secondary characters saved it a little. I was annoyed with the two main characters while reading it, but continued because I liked everyone else, and even though it was mostly predictable, I wanted to see how everything played out with Wyatt. The hero had a short temper, and the heroine was an idiot who cried more than she didn't. Those things I can get over though. The thing that has left me with a white hot rage days later is the amount of rape situations and references. I'm not s***ting you 4 out of 5 girls in this book had rape or attempted rape in their backgrounds. The two main characters meet when Julia sneaks out of her house in the middle of the night, goes to her mom's grave, is almost raped by two guys, and Jaxson comes to rescue her( and that was just the first time that she was almost raped). Grace's mom was raped and killed in front of her, and it's implied that she was also raped and beaten( to find out for sure, you'd have to read the next book). Anna is a 14 yr old girl who was raped in front of Jaxson while they were being held captive in Iraq, and Faith was held by the same people and was repeatedly raped by their captors(You can read more about Faith and Cade in the third book; I won't). Kayla is the only one that has a healthy relationship in the midst of all this nonsense. I've never read a book where rape is made commonplace. If you want to make a character go through that, dig in to the trauma, brokenness, and lead them on a path of healing, fine I get that, but don't use sexual assault as a means of making a damsel in distress over and over again.Read more ›

Jaxson is a very aggressive & passionate alpha male Navy Seal! I typically like to see these men with more of a softer side outside of the bedroom but that doesn't come for Jaxson until his life is turned upside down toward the end of the story. Even his nightmares for being a Navy Seal don't compare to how he feels about possibly losing Julia, the love of his life. But he spends much of his young life pushing Julia away, swearing that he isn't good enough for her but never giving her up completely either. Another thing I could do without is a story about a virgin who hangs in there for her man, thinking he really does love her & he'll come around, being his friend & confidant for years, barely touching another man as she pines for her true love...while her "true love" is screwing every girl in the phone book! And then Jaxson becomes incredibly jealous at the thought of another man touching Julia - really?? I guess that is the pleasure & the pain that comes along with loving this kind of bossy man, and the payoff is between the sheets because his dirty mouth is fantastic! There is a man in town who longs to be with Julia & sees his chance when Jaxson is out of the country. No one warned Julia how unstable Wyatt is & once Jaxson comes back to town claiming Julia for real this time, Wyatt is none too happy. Julia was a little irritating at times, I would have certainly put my foot down many times with Jax but for some reason she enjoyed it when he got all possessive over her. This is one of those books that introduces a few side characters for the subsequent books - and I end up liking the other characters even more! Sawyer & Cade are Jaxson's buddies & lifelong friends after their stint as Seals, and Julia has a quiet reserved friend named Grace who has some haunting secrets to her past.Read more ›
