Physical Condition:
Everything arrived intact and in perfect condition.
Liner Notes:
The liner notes are mostly standard credits and expressions of gratitude, BUT the very last page has a wonderful tribute to some important women heroes! Truly, the crew who worked on this album were touched by the story of "Hidden Figures".
Music:
This album contains the orchestral score. The songs with sung vocals and lyrics (except for choir and a few vocal solos) are on the Original Soundtrack album.
The music in this album is a wonderful product of collaboration by many artists. The principal architects are Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams, and Benjamin Wall Fischer.
I have enjoyed listening to this score many times over since it's release. I remarked to my wife how nice the score was when we were seeing the film in theaters, and it has held up over many hours of playback. Some film scores may become a bit repetitive and trudge along with a wall of noise after a while, but "Hidden Figures" features a very nice, lightly handled mixture of orchestra, jazz, and choir. The piano is the standout instrument and plays the thematic melodies of Katherine's successes throughout the story. It is not as brassy or patriotic as James Horner's "Apollo 13", but it isn't telling the same scope of story. This film is much more intimate and the score therefore portrays the resilience, intelligence, and determination of the women in this story (with just a dash of the straightforward complexities of mathematical equations). It's not rocket science - it's great music about rocket scientists.

I was interested in this album because I'm a huge Pharrell fan and Pharrell produced this. I wasn't surprised that it was great. I mirrors a lot of his latest work like the single "Happy" and the album "G I R L", sonically. He does surprise you how he figured a way to make gospel music more fun than it is. It also sounds like the song "Crave" was a left out track from the aforementioned album. My favorite song on the album is "Jalapeno" which is performed by Janelle Monae. if anything, buy this one track...it's as hot as the namesake!!

It's been umpteen years since I've purchased an entire album, let alone a soundtrack. I add to my iTune collections song by song and was doing so the other night, when I ran across Hidden Figures: The Album. I saw the movie in the theatre, another rarity, and absolutely loved it. The background music follows the story well, and is key to giving the movie the dynamics that it has.
Pharrell Williams' work on the album is top notch. I was actually pleasantly surprised to find the music lively without being too "noisy" and kinetic. I love every single song on the album, not just one or two. This is certain to get a lot of airtime at my house!

Pharrell's delicious "Runnin'" is the first title on this album.... but unfortunately the majority of tunes in this "soundtrack" isn't the actual music we loved hearing in the film. This soundtrack (and the reason for my purchase) DID NOT INCLUDE:
STICKS AND STONES – Ray Charles
HIGHER GROUND – Johnson (Rev.) Oatman, Jr. and Charles Gabriel
NATIONAL EMBLEM – E. E. Bagley and Jorge Patrono
DON’T TAKE MY WHISKEY AWAY FROM ME – Wynonie Harris
SO WHAT – Miles Davis
PRAISE HIM – David Kelly
HAVE A GOOD TIME – Ruth Brown
YOU’RE A GRAND OLD FLAG – United States Air Force Band
YOU SAY YOU LOVE ME – The Hearts
MIGHTY GOOD LOVIN’ – The Miracles
THE TOILERS – Roger Roger

Perfect! That’s the word that describes the quality and my experience

As soon as I heard the first song in the movie I knew I wanted this album and I bought it on my phone right there in the theater. It has not disappointed! I love all things Pharrell and this soundtrack is no different. The songs are catchy, upbeat, uplifting and make you feel good. Can't say anything bad about it except its only about 35 mins from start to finish, but the quality for those 35 minutes is outstanding.

Fantastic! This is real music. While it takes me back to the days of Stevie Wonder and other musicians of the 60's and 70's, it feels new. I especially love Isn't This the World. I've never paid attention to P. Williams until now and have gained a lot of respect for his talents from this album. Highly recommend for people who want beautiful, adult listening.

The electronic music that propels the film into orbit. An expression of genius. The culmination of Hans Zimmer's life's work. It works brilliantly with the film and still has a high flying, inspiring feeling as I hear it in my car. Of course I did see the movie six times at the theater.

Awful

I'm so disappointed with this soundtrack, not enjoyable.
Some tracks from the film do not seem to be on the CD, those that are I don't like at all. Bizarre. Definitely not easy listening.
Charity shop donation me thinks.

Not what I expected; no Hans Zimmer

Having listened to Hidden Figures on Apple Music, that is what what I had expected. This isn’t the same music, but is very enjoyable otherwise.
