The E11 Headphone Amplifier from Fiio is a compact and lightweight headphone amplifier that offers high-quality audio, ideal for portable music devices. The amplifier has standard 3.5mm input and output connectors for compatibility with a variety of MP3 players, CD players, computers, earbuds, headphones, and other devices. It has a heavy-current 3-channel amplified circuit that lowers output impedance. It also provides high efficiency and a low-noise power boost. It provides precise and even sound pressure levels and a wide dynamic range. The convenient volume control uses a closed APLS potentiometer to ensure low noise and excellent channel balance. The amplifier offers 3 levels of bass boost and 2 levels of gain to meet your personal preferences and adapt to different sound sources. There are also high and low voltage options to meet different needs. An auto-lock protective circuit will turn the amplifier off automatically in the event of abnormal activity in order to protect your headphones and minimize the risk of hearing damage. The amplifier operates on a high-performance BL-5B Lithium battery that is easily replaceable. The battery provides approximately 10 hours of operation per charge, allowing you to listen all day. The amplifier has charging and power indicator LEDs to give you a visual cue of operation status. A charge priority function will cease operation while the amplifier is charging. Once the battery has been charged and the amplifier is unplugged, operation resumes.

The Low & High output feature is nice, I feel the high output puts a slight emphasis on the higher frequencies. Not in an artificial way just enought to add a little "edge" or "life" to the sound.
The EQ settings are what really bring out the fun! EQ1 adds a nice "body" to the lower bass frequencies & made the M50x's really shine. That little extra was exactly what was missing & this is the setting I use most. EQ2 adds even more to the lower end even adding some emphasis to the mid-bass. This setting can sometimes add bloat for some music so I don't use EQ2 much. The great thing is that at any given moment I can flip it on for songs that were recorded a little "thin" sounding. In these cases it adds just the right fill.
I've used this amp with a few different headphones & earbuds (including my Shure se215) and the amp has made each pair sound BETTER than without. With the setting options I have always been able to find a combination to enhance whatever I listening thru!
Here is a breakdown of the features:
EQ: This alters the amount of bass that is integrated into the audio. 0 is basic amplification, closer to the original source. 1 is a little extra bass. 2 is even more bass. Even with the extra bass on 1 & 2, the sound stays balanced with no leakage into the other sound spectrums
Gain: This heightens the amount of amplification and opens up the soundstage* a little bit, great if your phones are a little flat on soundstage.
Power output (underneath the battery): this little switch allows you to increase the power of overall amplification. This means that the sound can be more powerful, but at sacrifice of battery. I have found that the Low setting works just fine for my needs.
Radial Volume knob: Pretty basic, it's a volume knob. It's really nice though excellent volume control, sturdy feel as well.
Design: Small, yet very well built. It's about a quarter smaller than my 7th Gen iPod Classic, and about as thick. It's also light weight, so it won't make a too noticeable difference to your gear.
Accessories: The E11 comes with a short 3.5mm male to male for transferring audio from the source to the amp. It's very short, as in 3" short. This is good though, because this amp is designed to "piggyback" on your portable audio source. You can use this on a laptop too, but it's primarily for portable use. It also comes with two little rubber like bands for piggybacking, and stick rubber feet to stick on the bottom of the amp for whatever reason you wish, very handy.
Summary: if you care about sound, this little amp is your companion wherever you go. Light weight, sturdy, quality made, amazing sound, and for the price this can't be beat!
Hope this helps. Happy Shopping!
*Soundstage*: soundstage is the 3D presentation or depth of the audio. The best soundstage is at a concert. So if your phones sound like you're at a concert, you've got a quality pair :)
The attractive case on the FiiO E11 is the just the first clue that this headphone amp is special. Look deeper, and you'll see some surprising features. The innovative volume control wheel is attached to a Japanese ALPS potentiometer. There are three separate EQ settings and two selectable gain levels to tailor the sound output to any taste and a protection circuit that kicks in to protect your headphones (and your ears) from unexpected problems with the signal. You might expect these sorts of features on an expensive desktop headphone amp, but this affordable and versatile performer is very portable. The internal Li-ion battery, charged via mini-USB port, is user-replaceable, ensuring the E11 won't be easily sidelined. The 3.5 mm stereo input and output on the amp will work with all popular mobile devices and earbuds. FiiO even thoughtfully includes rubber straps to keep the E11 and your music player or mobile phone banded together

I received this little gem for 19.00$ open box, it came in a silver tin with all the accessories. no wear marks anywhere and the battery is brand new...maybe it was listed wrong?
You can pick-up extra battery on amazon for less than a cup of coffee
