Format: Hardcover
This is an excellent book, very well written and with nice black and white drawings, suggestive of woodcuts. It describes, in accessible terms but with good technical insight, Brunelleschi's figuring out how to build the first free-standing dome since antiquity, by going to Rome to study the Pantheon (the only such dome to survive from classical times). It is historically very reliable, and reads very well. This book should be brought back into print; it is a classic and it would sell, especially after adults have read the recent <Brunelleschi's Dome> which tells the same story to an older audience.

A well written book for young people on how Filippo Brunelleschi, designed and built the famous Dome in Florence, Italy. The 15th Century Dome is still an architectural marvel.
