Editorial Reviews

Thrill to the original theatrical previews of 38 film noir classics, including Double Indemnity, The Postman Always Rings Twice, and Key Largo. Film Noir Poster Gallery Works of art as compelling and seductive as the films themselves. What is Film Noir? A crash course in crime drama, American-style! Femme Fatale-The Noir Dame When they were good, they were very good, but when they were bad, they were terrific!

This is the way movies should be made. Things have changed A LOT. Watching these classic and sometimes trashy fabulous flicks brought tears to my eyes from the memory of how films used to have substance and style. And made me think of my Hollywood obsessed mother. There are some of the classics films in this selection and some more obscure films. Yes, there are quite a few film noir films missing from this compilation but there are enough powerful productions here to keep your attention and to give you a sense of how film noir developed. This is a must see but keep in mind that some films are missing and that in some ways the portrayal is male dominated despite the ending that focuses on the evil femme fatales. All I know is that this is definitely worth watching and it'll get you thinking about the film noir genre and being wistful about the lack of atmosphere in films today.

I wish Amazon had more classic films like "Sorry, wrong number", "Mommy, Dearest" and all the film clips used by Steve Martin in "Dead Men Don't Wear Plad".
That would be interesting.

This is not a documentary. It is a mediocre selection of films deemed film noir, but not all are this genre. Many important and definitive titles have been overlooked. Okay just for casual viewing.

A very fun movie for noir fans although a couple of the movies are questionable in meeting that description.
